As the Product Marketing leader for Okta Access Gateway, you will be responsible for driving the marketing strategy, competitive positioning, and field enablement for our flagship product for securing Hybrid IT environments.
The role requires you to be technical, but with business savvy and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will work with multiple teams – from technical SMEs and business specialists – to set your overall go-to-market strategy and then own crafting and delivering key messages and value proposition across sales and marketing channels. You will define and drive key performance indicators for sales and adoption of Okta Access Gateway, and work to turn companies from prospects to raving Okta fans.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Go-to-market strategy: Define personas, market segments, and customer initiatives and projects to target
Product positioning: Connect market and technology trends with the identity and security needs of organizations to build product positioning and messages, such as: migrating to the cloud, maintaining hybrid IT, and replacing legacy on-prem SSO and MFA.
Content and tools: Develop product web copy, datasheet, presentations, white papers, product guides, technical briefs, and other tools that help convey the value of Okta Access Gateway to prospects
Product evangelism: Evangelize and demonstrate Okta at webinars, conferences, and tradeshows, to industry analysts and prospects
Feature launch: Develop and execute new feature launches, including customer messaging and assets, sales enablement, industry analyst and press briefings, and launch events
Demand generation: Work closely with the demand generation team to plan campaigns and create assets.
Adoption and growth - Partner with internal teams to improve the signup and adoption of Okta Access Gateway through clear and concise value proposition and compelling guides
Customer Intelligence: Develop case studies in conjunction with the content marketing team and help build a repository of customer references which can be used across marketing and sales activities
Sales enablement: Teach Okta’s sales team to speak the Access Gateway lingo: "hybrid IT, ground to cloud, lift-and-shift, on-prem/cloud-friendly", enabling them to convert opportunities into successful deployments and customer references.
Competitive analysis: Develop overall competitive positioning and feature-level comparison for established competitors such as Oracle, IBM, CA Technologies, Ping, and Microsoft.
Minimum REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
4-7+ years of combined product management or product marketing experience, ideally in SaaS.
Comfort developing messaging for and marketing to larger organizations transitioning to the cloud.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and data skills.
Project management skills. Able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
Experience and industry knowledge of Identity Management
Past experience with Oracle Access Manager (OAM), CA SiteMinder, PingAccess/PingFed, IBM Tivoli Access, or other Web Access Management solutions
Security background or CISSP/CCSP certifications
Background on hands-on roles – such as Sales Engineer or Consultant
