Ohio University is seeking a Web/UX Designer to join our Marketing and Communications team to provide strategic web and UX design to build a website presence befitting of a premier public university.
This position is responsible for designing and developing websites and graphical content, focused on the university's top-level pages and other prioritized components of the Ohio University digital presence and systems.
Primary responsibilities include:
Create overall design concepts for the user experience within the web content management system (Drupal), associated mobile applications and internal systems, using latest web trends to ensure all interactions are intuitive and easy for customers. This might entail layout menus and drop-down options to colors and fonts, adhering to the University brand standards and style guide.
Participate in requirements gathering sessions for digital projects, including working with campus clients to define needs and goals and present technical solutions to meet those goals.
BA or BFA in graphic design, computer animation, web design or related area preferred
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in web and UX design
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment to create top-performing interfaces and web experiences
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple milestones and projects efficiently
Professional written and interpersonal skills
Supports the creation of information architecture documents as needed for new web projects in partnership with web content experts. Designs, implements and analyzes user tests as needed to test user experience of new and existing sites.
Ability to translate data into on-brand design solutions and provide feedback to the digital marketing team
Ability to articulate rationale behind your design solutions to team, marketing managers, and business colleagues
Passion for creating beautiful digital content, a strong pride in the work you produce and an eagerness to learn and expand your design acumen to meet emerging technologies and trends
Attention to detail and hierarchy of information
Knowledge and understanding of web content management systems (Drupal), applications, and web trends
Strong strategic and analytical skills, integrity, creativity, responsiveness to opportunities, flexibility in work hours and effectiveness in responding to unexpected situations.
Familiar with web accessibility (WCAG 2.1) guidelines and design implications
Continued education and research into UI/UX trends and current design strategy and technology
