Communications Manager

Specific Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Events Promotion
Designs electronic invites, images, and flyers to promote the Center's numerous event
series and convenings. These include large-scale conferences, symposia, talk series, study
groups, and other convenings that build the platform and relevance of the Center.
Coordinates with Events Assistant who will organize all logistics. (All events are currently
listed online, and future events are expected to be of a similar volume and pace, if not
more.)

Digital Outreach/ Promotion
Social Media: Ensures effective online marketing of the digital content produced by the
Center and optimizes engagement of the Center with online audiences. On a regular basis,
maintains, monitors, and optimizes the Center's social media channels including
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Develops social media messaging and
campaigns that aligns with marketing initiatives to engage and increase followers.
Newsletters: Prepares and disseminates weekly newsletters and other communications,
such as a quarterly electronic publication.
Digital Media: Liaises with the Center's Multi-Media Specialist who produces specialized
videos, the Center's podcast, academic and research publications, and other digital
products, in order to promote these assets.

Advisory Board Stewardship
Helps with preparing for advisory board meetings, including designing materials.
Prepares stewardship materials for prospects and current donors, including stories and
short reports.

Media Outreach/Tracking
Manages the Center's media presence, including media relations and strategies for
leveraging social media. Liaises with the HKS Office of Communications and Public Affairs
to promote the center and its people, and refers media to the appropriate center affiliates.

Reporting and Performance Measurement
Accountable for monitoring and tracking the performance of the Carr Center's website,
emails, and social media channels. Creates and delivers performance reports and makes
optimization recommendations.

Administration
Implements the Center's short-term and long-term communications strategy. Develops
and maintains an editorial and events promotion calendar and dashboard that is
monitored and updated regularly, with clear targets for expansion of reach to diverse
stakeholders. Develops and maintains comprehensive and updated electronic database
and mailing lists, segmented by audiences and types of outreach. Curates and maintains
database of faculty, fellow research, speaking engagements, etc. for written and digital
marketing materials. Assists Multi-Media Manager in managing digital asset library.

This position is a fully benefits-eligible term appointment ending one year from date of hire, with very strong possibility of renewal.
