Job Description Summary Enterprise is a national nonprofit on a mission to make home and community places of pride, power and belonging for all. To make that possible, we operate the only organization designed to address America’s affordable housing crisis from every angle: we develop and deploy programs and support community organizations on the ground; we advocate for policy on a nonpartisan basis at every level of government; we invest capital to build and preserve rental homes people can afford; and we own, operate and provide resident services for affordable communities. All so that people not only make rent, they build futures. With this end-to-end approach, 40 years of experience and thousands of local partners, Enterprise has built and preserved 662,000 affordable homes, invested $53 billion in communities and changed millions of lives.
Enterprise seeks a mission- and results-driven executive to lead its Development & Communications department, a new department that combines Enterprise’s existing Resource Development Group and Marketing team. This combination reflects Enterprise’s focus to more tightly integrate and support its end-to-end platform by merging its two primary storytelling functions.
The position will report to the Chief Operating Officer and have total access to and direct and frequent interface with Enterprise’s Chief Executive Officer, three Division presidents, and Board.

- Oversee all fundraising and communications activities, including funder/key stakeholder and influencer targeting, cultivation and management, storytelling and content development, communications strategy, digital engagement, internal communications, media relations, and event planning
- Execute a communications and marketing strategy that targets donors, investors, government decision-makers, community development organizations, real estate developers, media, residents, employees (current and future), while leveraging communications as a tool for systems change, helping Enterprise shape the discourse/narrative around housing with key audiences to increase impact beyond our programs, products and services
- Expand, diversify and deepen Enterprise’s funder base – for our Solutions and Communities divisions, as well as our Enterprise Community Loan Fund (Enterprise’s leading CDFI)
- Optimize award/donor prospecting, grant stewardship processes, reporting systems and feedback loops between department and executive leadership
