The UW School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing Specialist to provide marketing support to projects and programs within the school and for student recruitment, based on the school's strategic initiatives and priorities. The Marketing Specialist will be part of the Marketing and Communications team's annual planning process, will help assess the marketing needs for programs and projects, draft strategic marketing plans, and implement tactics and tools to support those plans. Success in this position requires being an independent driver of ideas, a collaborative member of a dynamic team, and a creative thought partner who will take the initiative in marketing efforts for the School of Nursing under the Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications' guidance.
This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications, but will also work closely and collaborate with other directors and programs, including Continuing Nursing Education (CNE), the Dean's Office, Department Chairs, Student and Academic Services (SAS), and other program leaders in the School of Nursing. The position requires a self-starter and critical thinker who is able to proactively take on and prioritize projects and tasks, as well as work independently and as part of a team while adhering to tight deadlines.
COVID-19 forced a significant pivot in the delivery of many of our programs and impacted the previous method for student recruitment, but these challenges present an opportunity for innovation, efficiency, and better-coordinated marketing strategies. For example, moving the delivery of CNE programs entirely online means there is a rich opportunity to market these programs more broadly beyond the Seattle campus, as well as explore possible new offerings based on the demand and interest of the nursing profession. It is expected that this position will play a vital role in expanding and strengthening our national and international rankings and reputation.
The Marketing Specialist will manage a portfolio that is driven by the school's strategic priorities, including but not limited to recruitment marketing for graduate programs, implementing strategies that ensure messaging across all platforms is inclusive and anti-racist, and working collaboratively with school leaders on projects requiring strategic marketing and communications efforts.
