Department INDIANA MEMORIAL UNION (BA-IMAU-IUBLA) Department Information The Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) is located at the heart of the Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) campus. A job with Student Affairs Marketing provides students the opportunity to work in an agency-like atmosphere where creative problem-solving and collaboration with colleagues lead to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from target audiences. All Student Affairs Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives. Job Summary Real marketing challenges deserve real marketing solutions. That's where you come in. The Multimedia Photographer reports to the Digital Media Specialist and works closely with various members of the marketing team and professional staff/clients from around the Division of Student Affairs. Members of Student Affairs Marketing participate in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary. The Multimedia Photographer is someone with a creative eye and a flexible schedule who is willing to work some evenings and weekends. They will cover everything from major university events, department functions, marketing campaign shoots, as well as take portraits of staff and students. Essential Functions
Note: The student in this role may be asked to continue working into the 2021-22 academic year. Required Qualifications Current Indiana University student. A solid understanding of DSLR cameras, lighting, and gathering audio. Experience editing videos with Adobe Premiere and creating interactive graphics with Adobe After Effects. Experience editing photos with Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Photo Mechanic. Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover some evening and weekend events as well as maintaining some office hours. Fine attention to detail. Professionalism, dependability, and respect for others. Exceptional decision-making skills and autonomy. Exceptional written and communication skills. Performs well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere. Strong sense of curiosity and creativity. Motivated individual: strives for ongoing improvement and passionate about learning. Ability to receive constructive criticism in order to improve skillset. Preferred Qualifications Desire to improve constantly and learn more about photography. Lengthy experience photographing events in all shooting environments. Experience with video, video editing and digital image editing. Being comfortable directing others, including full time staff and management. Understanding of effective marketing tactics. Working Conditions / Demands Ability to work in a typical office environment as well as go to various locations around the IMU and IUB campus for shoots.
