The Assistant Athletic Director for Creative Strategy serves as the primary in house graphic designer for Southern Miss Athletics, assists with fostering and managing the athletics brand, provides photographic services for the athletic department, and assists with digital marketing, digital media, and social media. Provides leadership and assistance in the creative and visual storytelling direction for Southern Miss, through video, photo and graphic design. This position will collaborate effectively with the team and working cross-functionally to achieve department goals.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Strategically develop visual assets to support and enhance social media campaigns, digital content, and organizational branding.
2.Provide daily project management for the creative team, consisting of photography, videography, graphic design, and digital content on social media. Schedule, coordinate, and art direct all photoshoots.
3.Oversee weekly content management and implementation of INFLCR partnership to ensure student-athletes have new and archived content available to build and grow their personal brands.
4.Oversee graphic design, while working with team to define brand look-and-feel on a season basis. Create printed advertisements, publications, ads, logos, signage, web ads, emails, digital boards, etc.
5.Work in conjunction with the Senior AD for External Operations to champion, respect, and expertly communicate brand guidelines and logo usage. Upholds Southern Miss Athletics branding guidelines & identity standards.
6.Provide support and work collaboratively with the Assistant AD for Communications, Assistant AD for Sport Technology and the Football Video Coordinator.
7.Remain current with and ensure compliance with University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
8.Attend intercollegiate athletic competition, special events, and postseason competition, consistent with the position’s responsibilities. Some travel may be required.
9.Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communication design, graphic design, or other related field. Two or more years of full-time professional experience in commercial design, art, marketing, graphic design, sports, or related field. Expert-level experience with Adobe Creative Suite with demonstrated understanding of design principles. Demonstrated experience designing for social media platforms.
Experience creating motion graphics. Experience within NCAA Division I athletics program desired. Proven success producing creative and innovative multi-media content.
