The Department of Technology and Design invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The departmental mission is to develop and equip exceptional collaborators who impact the world through the transformative application of technology and design. Offering bachelor degrees in graphic design, information systems, information technology, and computer science, the department positions itself within the Skinner School of Business and Technology. The applied business focus aims to equip creative and technical problem-solvers, communicators, and collaborators.
The primary focus is teaching excellence. In cooperation with other faculty in the department and school, the candidate will develop and deliver innovative courses. The modality can be face-2-face or online. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, engagement in community and professional groups, and serving on university committees.
Trevecca seeks candidates with a strong Christian testimony and an unwavering commitment to Christ-centered teaching and learning. The successful candidate will have expertise to develop the creative minds of future graphic designers at the forefront of branding, visual communication, and design strategy for modern businesses. With expertise in Adobe's creative applications such as Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop and other interactive media and coding techniques, candidates will have experience in blending technical skills with communication strategies and branding methods to maximize design impact. Expertise in social media and digital marketing are foundational to the applied emphasis. Industry experience augmented by a current electronic portfolio is highly encouraged. A passion for working with undergraduates in Christian higher education is essential.
A Ph.D. or M.F.A. degree in graphic design, web design, rich media design, social media and digital marketing, UX design, game design, or a closely related field is preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates holding a master’s degree and industry experience.
