General summary/purpose: The External Reputation Marketer is part of the Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team. They will be responsible for working closely with their MarComm colleagues and collaborating with others throughout Carey Business School. The incumbent will contribute to the department's integrated and comprehensive approach to brand building and providing support for student recruitment, alumni engagement, employee engagement, and diversity initiatives. This position is responsible for communicating and marketing events and partnerships to internal and external stakeholders to ensure the right audience, and to maximize Carey Business School visibility and recognition.
Specific duties & responsibilities: External Speaker Series (40%)
Lead strategy, research, planning, marketing, delivery, and post-event analysis and summary of high-profile speaker series events including developing event formats and programs, identifying and approaching relevant high-quality speakers, and working with the teams across Carey Business School to ensure the successful delivery of the events.
Lead outreach to speaker/speaker's comm team to align on themes, messaging, marketing materials.
Present to Dean and Associate Deans their recommended strategies, plans and follow-up and ensure learnings are leveraged in future plans.
Cross Departmental Initiatives (40%)
Strategic Brand Initiatives o Lead cross functional team to develop strategy and execution of Carey's overarching strategic brand initiatives by marketing the right messages through the best channels o Help determine the success metrics for the school and report on progress to management. o Consolidate research and insights from cross function team members for comprehensive needs assessment. o Lead writing integrated deck that covers all aspects of brand initiatives for Carey Business School. o Present to Dean and Vice/Associate Deans their recommended strategies, plans and follow-up and ensure learnings are leveraged in future plans.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) o Serve as MarComm department point person on DEIB team related marketing needs o Develop and execute upon DEIB positioning and ensure it is communicated across all Carey's platforms including internal and external communication opportunities. o Actively manage DEIB web pages to gather information from partners and update the sight accordingly work with Carey's content writer. o Lead writing integrated deck that covers all aspects of DEIB for Carey for any needs for dean presentations. o Present to Dean and Vice/Associate Deans their recommended strategies, plans and follow-up and ensure learnings are leveraged in future plans.
External Partnerships (10%)
Work closely with Corporate and Global partnerships team to develop marketing plans and execute against those plans
Lead website strategy and execution for external partnerships section coordinating with Corporate Relations team, DEIB team, Community Partnership teams
Other duties as assigned (10%)
Bachelor's degree in related field and four years of related experience required. Five+ years of related experience in advanced marketing, communications and/or editorial experience preferred.
Advanced degree may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Ability to translate vision into actions through communications, projects and relationships.
Hands-on experience with event coordination, digital marketing, creation of marketing materials, and digital analytics tools.
Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to navigate multiple projects and priorities with strong problem-solving ability.
Exceptional ability to build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, to be influential and to perform in a broad range of environments.
Effective communicator with excellent written and verbal communication experience, experience editing/providing feedback on the work of others. Demonstrated versatility in writing styles, including news stories and marketing copy.
Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a high degree of professionalism and the ability to exercise good judgment, diplomacy, and discretion, with diverse populations and situations.
Analytical skills—able to leverage data to inform both marketing and communications decisions.
Project management—demonstrated initiative, problem solving, attention to detail and team management skills.

Knowledge of social and mobile media, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
Understanding of CRM software, CMS platforms (WordPress), Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, Mailchimp or other email platforms, other tracking tools, social media and digital marketing platforms.
