Job Description Summary: The Marketing Communications Coordinator is a key contributor to the college's myriad marketing efforts. This position has the responsibility of the day-to-day marketing writing and communication for SMC. Including the coordination, development, and execution of website updates, social media channels, and email marketing campaigns, including monthly reporting of metrics, quality assurance of all creative and copy, and helps to provide direction for marketing campaigns. This position reports to the Marketing Manager.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related field 1-3 years email, social media, web, and other marketing experience Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading and editing Technologically adept and able to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments Can effectively work as part of a team and with others across the college to achieve common goals
Preferred Qualifications: High level of written composition, creativity, and an understanding of design Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Web Content Management System, and Customer Relationship Management software Experience creating and editing short videos
Other Information: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manages content for the public website and recommends improvements to user experience as necessary. Monitors web usage and patterns through Google Analytics, providing monthly snapshots and trend reporting. In coordination with the CRM Administrator, manages and runs mass email campaigns to prospective students and families, current students, and other audiences. Creating email campaigns includes planning email strategy; writing, designing, and proofing emails; building and maintaining email lists and databases, and executing email campaigns. Manages and runs the colleges main social media accounts. Including developing social media strategy, writing posts, selecting and/or creating graphics for posts (illustration, photography, or short video), scheduling, and publishing posts. This also includes monitoring social media channels run by other departments at the college, monitoring public sentiment, and responding to questions. Writes, edits, and proofs marketing materials such as web pages, direct mail, print, radio, TV ads, flyers, and the college catalog. Develops and cultivates relationships with vendors. Keeps informed about emerging technologies and writes POVs as requested on potential value for SMC. Provides reporting on email, social, and web metrics. Assists in the development of marketing initiatives across the organization. Collaborates with other departments to effectively market programs and activities. Uses continuous improvement methods such as value analysis to drive out waste and increase our efficiency through technology.
