Carnegie Mellon University's Marketing and Communications Division is searching for a Manager, Coulter Welcome Center, to support the David and Susan Coulter Welcome Center, located in the Tepper building. The Manager, Coulter Welcome Center, serves as a direct point of contact with and resource for the public, and is responsible creating and supporting a welcoming environment for university visitors, primarily prospective students and families. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the welcome center, including on site oversight of student ambassadors.
Core responsibilities will include:
Provide a warm and welcoming CMU environment. Greet visitors, answer questions and provide directions.
Share stories and information about CMU. Participate in ongoing training about the CMU Brand to continually learn and refine key messages and points of pride about CMU.
Open and close Coulter Welcome Center to include management of inventory in Welcome Center (i.e. beverages, materials, giveaways)
Check in guests for tours, information sessions, and other university events.
Oversee the appearance, functionality and operation of technology within the welcome center.
Operate and input changes into the online interactive map experience's content management system (CMS).
Schedule group visits, group tours, and coordinate schedule for any faculty and student presentations separate from undergraduate admission offerings.
Work in partnership with the Tepper Building operations team, Undergraduate Admission team and other partners/vendors as required.
Serve as a vital part of CMU's visitor experience initiative. Work collaboratively with Assistant Director, Visitor Experience and Campus Tours, and the Senior Director, Marketing Strategy, to continually enhance the visitor experience program.
Assist with data collection of both in-person and virtual visitor experience events for continual improvement of the team's offerings.
Participate in the hiring, training and evaluation of the student ambassadors.
Provide oversight of student ambassadors, part-timers and others when they are helping to staff the Welcome Center.

This is a 12-month, fixed term appointment and operational need will be re-assessed for possible extension. Core operating hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Thursday through Monday ; you should be able and willing to work occasional evenings, as needed.
Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent in marketing, communications, hospitality management, business, higher education administration or other related field preferred
Minimum one year of customer service, visitor relations, administrative management experience or experience working in an admission or student affairs environment required
Experience in higher education and working with students highly desired
Experience with general office technology and databases (i.e. g-suite, slack, Monday.com, box, scheduling systems and others as needed)
