Reporting to the Director of Communication & Marketing, the Marketing & Social Media Coordinator will perform a variety of specialized communications, marketing and social media management functions to increase the College's visibility and brand, and participation/awareness of campus-wide events. This position is a key contributor to a small team that operates in a fast-paced environment. This individual will be responsible for planning, creating and posting content across multiple social media platforms, as well as engaging with social media coordinators throughout the college to ensure collaboration and coordination of messaging. This position will also work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy to ensure social media activity is supportive to digital strategy and tactics.
This position requires creativity, initiative, teamwork, attention to detail, excellent writing/communication skills, great interpersonal skills, and strong social media background including day-to-day management and adoption of best practices. This individual should have a baseline practical experience in managing social media accounts with the desire to learn and grow in this area of responsibility. The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator will also be responsible for the project management of campus-level marketing collateral and communications activities such as special VIP events, Symposium on Democracy, and more.
Social Media Management 80%
Acts as social media community coordinator for multiple channels including Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, SnapChat, YouTube and Facebook.
Works with Communication & Digital leaders to develop social media strategy and campaigns. Collaborates with campus department social media managers, and assists in leading bi-weekly meetings to ensure tone, message and content are consistent across social media platforms.
Respond to user inquiries on social media channels. Monitors activity, inquiries and issues and works with Associate Director of Communication on best actions and responses.
Ensures that social media is building brand awareness and reputation, and keeps current on industry best practices. Periodically reviews and makes recommendations for new opportunities.
Monitors analytics and performance, and creates reports to communicate trends and make strategy and tactical recommendations.
Develop, write, and proof content for multiple platforms.
Promote campus events and student achievements.
Communication & Marketing Special Projects Coordination (20%)
Provides writing support as needed for communication activities (e.g. magazine, programs). Colloborate on design and marketing projects from ideation to execution
Coordinate marketing and communications activities including collateral, photography, videography, public relations, and more to ensure that all activities are on track, on budget and shared with campus partners
Schedules meetings as needed for committee members & internal communications team to keep projects on track and on budget
Works closely with Manager, Marketing Operations & Administration in creating and managing project reports and timelines for special events and initiatives to ensure timeliness, efficiency and budget management. Tracks project progress, priorities, identifies projects off schedule and recommends updates to departmental workflow processes.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field required.
At least two years in managing social media accounts preferably for higher education and/or non-profit organizations
Proficiency with MS Office products.
Proficiency with Social Media platforms (ie: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
Ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent oral communication skills.
Excellent project management skills and detail oriented.
Must be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously.
Must be well organized, punctual, and have a strong attention to detail.
Must be willing to work on weekends or evening hours as needed to support College initiatives
