The Director of Marketing Communications will embody these principles in their work and leadership to the marketing communications team. As the school’s lead content strategist and storyteller, the Director of Marketing Communications will oversee all marketing communications involving the organization including the development and implementation of a marketing communications strategy and a broad and diverse range of community, business, and marketing communications.
Hires and trains marketing communications staff.
Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of marketing communications team members.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Works in close collaboration with the Head of School and other members of the school administration and school community.
Develops and implements a marketing communications strategy for Penn Charter that supports the mission and vision of the school and builds upon and maintains a positive community brand.
Creates and collaborates in the creation of compelling, mission-driven content for various online and print platforms, for external and internal audiences..
With marketing communications team members, maintains and continually expands an accessible, archived collection of Penn Charter stories, videos and photography.
Oversees the ongoing development and maintenance of the Penn Charter website including storytelling, methods to deliver messages, ease of navigation, and clarity of information; ensures that all content is current and uses data analytics to verify relevance.
Maps content, writes for, edits and oversees production of the biannual school magazine, Penn Charter, and materials for How Far?, the school’s $125 million capital campaign.
Collaborates with Directors of Development, Admissions and Athletics, and academic leaders in the school house, to develop marketing communications strategies and products designed to achieve their distinct goals. Provides consistent and timely information to parents, alumni and other community members through various communications programs.
Budgets for and oversees creation and implementation of paid print and online advertising, plus search engine optimization (SEO) management. Identifies opportunities for free media.
Acts as media spokesperson and responds to members of the media in a timely manner; composes and distributes press releases; develops positive professional relationships with various members of the media.
In crisis situations, collaborates as a member of the Crisis Management Team and creates strategy and content for crisis communications.
Assists members of the school administration in developing presentations, speeches, and other important organizational messages.
Develops, implements, and adheres to marketing communications budget.
Develops, composes, distributes, and implements policies to enhance the efficiency of the marketing communications department and to build and nurture a positive organizational brand.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
Multiple years of experience in content development and management for print and web, and comprehensive marketing experience.
Familiarity with Quaker Education and the Religious Society of Friends
Experience or familiarity with the PK-12 school setting or non-profit organizations
