The communications director will support the execution of Duck Athletic Fund and Athletic Ticket Office marketing and communications initiatives including emerging annual giving campaigns, digital marketing, and brand development. The principal responsibility of the communications director is to coordinate, create, develop, and implement marketing campaigns to attract, acquire and retain donors and ticket office customers through print, social media, email, and web-based marketing channels.
This position will assist and manage the Duck Athletic Fund and Athletic Ticket Office brand and communication strategy in alignment with the department’s overall brand strategy. The communication director will also support fundraising efforts, including direct mail, email, crowdfunding, day of giving, and annual giving stewardship. Additionally, the communications director will be responsible for the design and production of DAF and ticket office collateral materials including letters, emails, proposals, event invitations and stewardship pieces. This position will also oversee the Duck Athletic Fund/Athletic Ticket Office website, social media, and other creative digital opportunities.
The successful candidate will develop strategic communications plans and produce creative and engaging content for the Duck Athletic Fund and Athletic Ticket Office that is visually appealing, tells our unique stories, and is brand consistent. The ideal candidate for this position will be well-versed in digital marketing, customer engagement, and have a background in and/or appreciation for college athletics, fundraising, and the donor/customer experience.
The communications director will collaborate with a variety of departments including the ticket office, IMGL, marketing, various sports programs, video team, and development colleagues across campus to schedule engagement opportunities and support DAF and ticket office initiatives. The communications director will attend meetings, athletic events, game day functions, and other DAF functions as a representative of the Duck Athletic Fund. This may require weekend work and occasional travel.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, Pac-12 Conference, and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, public relations, communications, advertising, or related field. • Three years of experience which includes two years at full performance level and experience generating documents. • One year of direct experience managing email marketing including content creation, segmentation of data, and email marketing strategy.

Preferred Qualifications • 1-2 years of experience in digital marketing. • Experience in segmentation and multi-channel solicitation development. • Ability to film and edit videos for digital distribution. • Previous experience using email marketing platforms. • Experience with ScaleFunder, Advance, DOMO, iModules, TM Engage, and Ticketmaster software. • Background in college athletics, especially athletics development, is preferred.
