The Master of Science in Marketing Program Office is seeking an Associate Director to join its team. The role of the Associate Director, manages administrative and student support services for the Program.
Reporting to the Program Director of the MS in Marketing program, the Associate Director, Master of Science in Marketing Program develops and manages relationships with/between multiple constituencies (employers, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administration) in a mutually beneficial marketing, admissions, advisement and educational capacity. This position addresses various student needs and advise students through their curriculum requirements as well as help schedule courses, plan events, seminars, and networking opportunities, and serves as a resource for employers wanting to expand their presence within the Marshall School of Business. This position also serves as a marketer that builds awareness of the program through an effective advertising and promotion plans by expressing the benefits of the MS in Marketing Program to prospective students at information sessions, interviews and online.Â It also serves the employer community through attendance at career fairs, hosting of career events and offering career mentorship opportunities.Â The incumbent will also help in career exploration and recruitment preparation activities for Marshall students with a focus on both domestic and international internship and full time job opportunities, across a variety of functions and industries.
Responsibilities and Duties
Â· Advise prospective students on admissions, financial aid, housing and academic requirements.
Â· Manage the admissions process.
Â· Provide academic counseling for graduate students. Advise on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, transfer credit, and graduation.
Â· Evaluate student problems, academic, administrative or personal, and refer student to appropriate student services office for additional counseling. Assist with petition applications.
Â· Maintain student records and coordinate registration activities, degree progress, enrollment, and degree verification.
Â· Plan and coordinate student events including commencement, orientation, and receptions. Contract with vendors for services.
Â· Maintain and compile statistical data. Prepare reports for internal and external use.
Â· Gather financial data, assist in budget development, and monitor expenses.
Â· Plan and conduct program quality assurance reviews and recommend changes as appropriate.
Â· Advise and counsel students regarding career issues and strategies, internship search methods, resume preparation and related matters. Determine career counseling needs of individual students as well as groups of students and develop action plans accordingly.
Â· Develop awareness of the MS in Marketing Program by effectively communicating its benefits to potential students and employers by attending events such as job fairs, to develop relationships with recruiters and marketing professionals and hold information sessions to inform prospective students of the program to advance their careers in marketing.
Â· Develop strategies for marketing and promoting the program, such as marketing research and development of marketing plans, personal networking, publications, event planning, etc.
Â· Plan and participate in student workshops and seminars covering pertinent topics such as career planning, placement process, interview techniques and resume preparation.
Â· Modify existing program services or create new program offerings to maintain or enhance program standing and rankings.
Â· Develop and administer program operating and administrative policies.
Â· Manage the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries.Â Set and communicate program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria.Â Plan and conduct quality assurance reviews and recommend changes as appropriate.
Â· Develop a customized database of employers, including marketing professionals and recruiters at a variety of companies that could hire MS in Marketing students.Â This CRM system will also have student information regarding specifics of internships and full-time positions.
Â· Interface with student services and campus organizations to coordinate career placement programs.Â Serve as MS in Marketing spokesperson to provide insights and information to the community on the curriculum and career services.
Â· Genuine interest in working with graduate students. Strong organizational, communication, and event planning skills
Â·Â Experience in academic advisement and/or student support services and programs at an accredited college/university.
Â·Â Familiarity with University student information and advising systems.
Â·Â Masterâs Degree in marketing, business administration, or higher education
Â·Â Three years of work experience in corporate setting or educational institution.
Â·Â Experience with database systems
Â·Â Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
Â·Â Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information within FERPA and University guidelines.
Â·Â Demonstrated communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal, presentation) to work with a variety of diverse constituents including students, families, faculty, and staff.
Â·Â Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to meet student needs and department priorities.
Â· Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Â· Minimum Experience: 3 years
Â· Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related experience in student services and programming with ability to lead
