Soka University of America is offering a full-time Web Content Strategist position and is seeking a web professional with experience managing complex web sites, building web pages, and producing content. Reporting to Director of Marketing, this position is responsible for keeping university digital content fresh, dynamic, and engaging. The position involves working with campus clients to improve their digital marketing while adhering university branding, strategy and mission, and style guides. A successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of digital best practices including web content strategy, user experience, interactive design, visual design, analytics, SEO, optimizing website performance, and digital accessibility. We are seeking someone with a combination of technical experience, excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and a strong customer-service orientation.
Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially with regard to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity and have a willingness to facilitate the university’s mission to develop global citizens.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinating with the marketing team and the Director of Marketing on day-to-day and strategic digital priorities
Creating, updating, and expanding university digital content and enhancing the usability of the university website and digital products
Working with campus partners to find better ways to communicate about and market programs digitally
Organizing and gathering content from campus partners, including outreach and consultation with faculty and staff to develop content
Providing quality control and accessibility oversight for content on the university website and other digital platforms. Managing a process for regular content review of key pages.
Understanding stakeholders' (prospective students, parents, donors, alumni, faculty, staff) goals in order to advise colleagues on content creation and web marketing best practices and to help optimize user actions within sites
Developing and implementing high quality web solutions to meet the university's marketing needs, including landing pages, web forms, web copy, images, and documents
Selecting and editing photographic assets for use on the site
Ensuring consistency with the university branding and messaging guidelines and website style guide
Using web analytics and performance data to implement improvements on university websites.
Managing the university’s digital accessibility efforts
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in digital media production, marketing, communications, journalism, design or related experience
Minimum of 3 years relevant web production, design, and/or writing experience,
Demonstrated experience of:
A proven record of accomplishment updating websites utilizing a web content management system, preferably Drupal or WordPress
Digital graphic art production experience/working knowledge of Photoshop
Knowledge of HTML and CSS and website best practices including SEO techniques and complying with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
Work cross-functionally within a team
Effectively present conceptual solutions to stakeholders and team members
Meet deadlines and work on multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously
Skills should include:
Possession of critical thinking, analytical, and creative skills to develop a concept, idea, or content into a strong visual presentation that maximizes marketing effectiveness
Strong customer service orientation
Excellent written and verbal communication, including strong editing, grammar, and proof-reading skills
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with some project management experience
High ethical and professional standards
