National Science Teaching Association located in Arlington, VA seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of AEOP Communications & Marketing Specialist. This is a grant funded position and at this time, the position is remote based.
The Marketing and Communications Specialist will be responsible for marketing, advertising and outreach efforts related to the GEMS/Camp Invention, JSHS and eCYBERMISSION AEOP Programs. Primary responsibilities (95% of time) will be allocated to eCYBERMISSION. Marketing and Communication efforts will include researching, evaluating and purchasing advertising space (both print and digital) for eCYBERMISSION outreach and recruiting purposes.
The Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for maintaining the eCYBERMISSION social media sites including daily posting, developing campaigns, monitoring and responding to posts, and tracking and increasing social media engagement and activity. In addition to advertising and social media, the Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for public relations efforts on behalf of eCYBERMISSION. This includes but is not limited to writing and submitting press releases, responding to media inquiries and working with the NSTA marketing/communications team and the AEOP communications firm to increase the PR efforts related to eCYBERMISSION. The Marketing and Communication Specialist will be responsible for the coordination and development of all print materials for NJ&EE, working with the AEOP communications firm to produce the NJ&EE Luncheon Program book, and all flyers distributed at the event.
In addition to the work with eCM, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will work with the GEMS and JSHS Project Managers to plan, coordinate, and implement all public relations and advertising activities that support and maintain the continuity, stability and growth of GEMS and Camp Invention and JSHS, being the liaison between NSTA and the AEOP communications firm. During the National JSHS event, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will serve as the primary liaison to the AV company, lend assistance on site helping with social media and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, AEOP.
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of social media platforms and their utilization for promotions; experience with working with traditional media (print, broadcast, digital), strong written and verbal communications skills (recent writing samples required); versatile copyediting skills, a strong command of English spelling and grammar, experience with AP style.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field, plus 3 years of experience in a communications or marketing role, preferably in a nonprofit or corporate setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
