The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for playing a lead role in the development of the segment strategy and strategic marketing plan for the dynamic Oncology market. This person will be the champion, voice and deep subject matter expert of customer, serving as an organizational resource for all facets of customer, market, industry, competitive, legislative & regulatory environments. This position is responsible for translating that knowledge into differentiated strategies and managing initiatives designed to maximize McKesson's position. This includes development of content, value propositions, differentiated offering, services and programs for Sales and Customers.
Position Description Generally responsible for directing the development of company's Oncology marketing efforts. Activities include assessment of market dynamics, developing segmentation models, identifying customer needs, setting marketing strategies, creating value proposition messaging, and designing sales programs. This position will interface regularly with sales team to gather insights, develop programs and communicate marketing initiatives that link to the defined sales process and sales model. Responsibilities also include creating content that engages with customers from top of the funnel awareness programs to the messaging strategies for RFPs. Working with campaign team, develop go to market multi-channel campaigns and advertising programs.
Customer and Sales
Marketing Customer strategies & initiatives : Be the segment deep subject matter expert and Customer advocate, translating Customer needs into differentiated solutions and messaging. Lead the segment marketing strategy and content marketing plan.
Marketing Sales strategies & initiatives : Collaborate with Government and GPO national account teams, other segments, channels and sales leadership to develop the segment strategy, providing focus for the team on prioritized goals and initiatives. Develop and lead initiatives around segment education, messaging, skills & support tools, conferences/meetings and programs aligned to drive growth. Propose new sales initiatives that complement our segment priorities.
Customer insights : Develop the segment learning agenda and execution of research with segment leadership, sales and marketing research. Extrapolate learnings from research to develop and refine segment strategies and initiatives.
Value Proposition management : Translate McKesson Medical-Surgical's value proposition into meaningful, differentiated initiatives and pull through into messaging for our Customer and Sales channels. Work with other business units to develop an integrated enterprise val prop and messaging platform.
Market and Industry
Marketing Plan : Develop and present at various levels of the organization the Oncology segment marketing plan. Gather all inputs to create meaningful strategic imperatives with defined measureable goals. Prioritize and execute on initiatives. Track and report progress.
Segment analysis and scorecard : Understand and track segment financial, Customer Experience (NPS), SWOT, competitive, share and growth trends. Use insights to develop, optimize and prioritize initiatives.
Segment innovation : Understand and communicate future Customer needs. Translate these needs into product, service and tool innovation agendas to support future state.
Competitive intelligence : Build out a robust assessment of our competitors as part of the annual marketing plan. Gather, analyze and report competitive activities on a frequent basis.
Market insights: Understand and translate information for the customer strategies, competitive activities and legislative/regulatory changes into meaningful insights. Recommend new solutions, services or products that would bring value to our sales and Customers.
Associations : Develop and manage association strategies, engagement and relationships.
Education of McKesson Medical-Surgical teams on segment fundamentals.
Supporting role for National Sales Conference and Leadership Meeting as content SME.
Leading and supporting role of cross-segment projects and cross business unit activities.
5+ years of marketing experience
In depth understanding of health care and specifically the oncology market
5+ years of marketing or category management experience
5+ year experience managing multiple projects, leading cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders
Experience with market research, analysis & competitive intelligence
Experience in developing value propositions and messaging
Executive level presentation skills
Strong project management skills
Demonstrated data and analytical skills
Academic and practical experience with a wide range of marketing and analytical methodologies
Distribution knowledge a plus
Traditional office environment
Large percent of time performing desk-based work (computer, telephone) is required
