Overview: This position is responsible for creation and coordination of high-quality, effective stewardship programs for key University of Minnesota (U) donors. Responsibilities include managing all ongoing operations of President’s Club—the University’s premiere donor recognition club; managing annual recognition programs for mid-range donors; supporting the U-wide gift acknowledgements program; collaborating with key U and University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) staff; and participation in special donor relations projects as assigned. Position involves a high volume of project management, writing, process coordination, collaboration with UMF and U staff, and occasional phone or event contact with donors.
Management of ongoing President’s Club operations (60%)
Work closely with UMF database query team to identify donors who qualify for new or upgraded enrollment in the U-wide President’s Club, which is the U’s premiere donor recognition club for donors with the most generous life-to-date giving. Work in the UMF database to research these donors, and coordinate with U and UMF prospect managers to determine a communications plan for each donor.
Coordinate with vendors to produce and mail custom enrollment/upgrade materials. Perform mail merges, order custom-made materials, and piece together packages for each donor.
Collaborate with UMF digital marketing team to maintain website for donors to confirm enrollment preferences and order thank you gifts. Fulfill thank you gift orders.
Oversee ongoing updates to member recognition walls, digital rosters, and other recognition marketing platforms.
Coordinate with the UMF Planned Giving team for special recognition needed for planned-giving donors. Partner with the U Office of the President as needed. Correspond with donors directly regarding enrollment and thank you gift questions. Partner with designers on content and brand refreshes.
Support of other stewardship, reporting and acknowledgement programs (20%)
Provide support for Acknowledgements 2.0 program. Assist in communication with units to gather content, organize content to send to print and mail vendor, and maintain content library for units to access.
Support team in production of the annual Report on Endowments. Sort and review complex financial data with unit colleagues, review data audits from production vendor, proofread and edit reports.
Fulfill custom stewardship and recognition requests as needed.
Annual planning and execution of the $25k milestone-giving program. (10%)
Work closely with UMF database query team to identify donors who qualify for $25k milestone recognition.
Coordinate communication with milestone donors to thank them and offer a special gift.
Collaborate with UMF digital marketing team to maintain website for donors to order thank you gifts.
Coordinate with vendor to select custom gift options and produce and mail to donors.
Oversight of unique gift confirmations for donors (5%)
Oversee weekly tribute confirmations. Work with vendor and internal partners to produce and send mail and email confirmations to donors. Work with development colleagues to craft custom confirmations to VIP donors or next of kin.
Oversee production of weekly donor advised fund, pledge, and matching gift confirmations
Assist with stewardship and recognition activities including special writing projects, events and other duties as assigned. (5%)

Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field and at least two years of editorial, project management, and/or writing experience OR a combination of relevant education and work experience to equal at least 6 years.
Excellent organizational, research, writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated intermediate skill level using Word, Excel, databases and web based tools
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.
Attention to detail and ability to conform to the writing style of others.
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field
Three or more years of editorial, project management, and/or writing experience.
Writing experience in donor relations/fundraising.
