Detailed Job Description The Marketing and Recruitment Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, management and oversight of marketing and recruitment in the K-12 University Center. They will serve as marketing and recruitment lead for the Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) Apprenticeships grant and primary liaison to RIT and AEOP marketing and communications groups.
K-12 University Center (RIT K-12) RIT K-12 works in collaboration with all divisions at RIT to build connections between the college and the K-12 community (youth, teachers, parents, schools). This is accomplished through a portfolio of initiatives including customized campus visits, onetime hands-on experiences, ongoing grant-funded programs facilitated in partnership with area schools, broader impact efforts designed with RIT faculty, workforce development programs, and summer camps. The outreach provided by the RIT K-12 aims to increase college-going attitudes, to spark interest in RIT's areas of study, and to motivate youth to consider RIT as an eventual fit for college.
The Marketing and Recruitment Specialist will lead the RIT K-12 team in the development and implementation of a cohesive brand strategy. This will include development of messaging, guidelines, and templates for use across all platforms. Responsible for RIT K-12 website, social media, and building recognition of the RIT K-12 brand. Will advise program directors in the development of recruitment strategies.
Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) The AEOP provides students and teachers a collaborative, cohesive, portfolio of Army-sponsored STEM programs that effectively engage, inspire, and attract the next generation of STEM talent; K though post doctorate programs and expose them to Department of Defense (DoD) STEM careers. A member of the Consortium of collaborative organizations working together to support the AEOP and led by Battelle Memorial Institute, RIT is executing the AEOP STEM apprenticeships and leading the AEOP career development effort.
The AEOP Apprenticeships program is a DoD-funded, grant-based initiative that helps to address the nation's need for a diverse, agile, and highly competent STEM literate talent pool. AEOP provides high school, undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students with hands-on STEM research opportunities in military and university laboratories across the United States and its territories. Participating in AEOP apprenticeships offers students the unique opportunity to be mentored and trained by senior Army, Army-sponsored, or university faculty researchers while conducting real-world research. The AEOP, with leadership from RIT and support from the AEOP Consortium, will develop and implement a comprehensive career development element to supplement the Army's existing apprenticeship programs.
The majority of effort of the Marketing and Recruitment Specialist will be dedicated to the development and implementation of marketing and recruitment efforts for the AEOP Apprenticeships program with the goal of promoting participation, recruiting diverse and highly qualified candidates, and supporting the development of innovative events. The Marketing and Recruitment Specialist will:
Manage social media, marketing and outreach for AEOP apprenticeships including creation of marketing plan/calendar
Create marketing and collateral material for apprenticeship programs as needed, in alignment with AEOP branding guidelines
Develop and implement nation-wide recruitment strategies that focus especially on participants from underserved/underrepresented groups at all educational levels
Develop and implement a nation-wide recruitment strategy to attract and identify new institutional partners (Army labs and universities)
Represent apprenticeships at targeted conferences/events to advance recruitment of underserved/underrepresented applicants and graduate and post doctorate applicants
Support development of virtual educational materials, webinars, research symposium, etc.
Liaise with AEOP consortium public relations firm on behalf of apprenticeships to promote the AEOP brand among apprenticeship particpants
Curate and manage AEOP apprenticeships contact list
Facilitate text-based communication system for marketing and to support current apprentices
Review and analyze data regarding recruitment efforts to inform future efforts
The Marketing and Recruitment Specialist will report to the Director of AEOP Apprenticeships and Career Development (primary) and the K-12 Director of Finance and Operations. The position is based out of the RIT K12 University Center at RIT's main campus. Occasional evening and weekend hours and travel to AEOP consortium meetings and events and conferences may be required. Remote and hybrid work arrangements will be considered.
This position is dependent on the availability of grant funding.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with significant experience
3-5 years of experience in recruitment
3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; must be adept at communicating with audiences of all backgrounds and education levels
Marketing, graphic design, social media and website management experience required
Project management experience
Knowledgeable in best practices for communicating with high school, undergraduate, and graduate students across a range of backgrounds
Experience in leading teams
Experience in brand development
Knowledge of and willingness to learn new technologies and programs
Experienced with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
