Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Marketing and Communications Program Manager for the Office of the Chief Operating Officer within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM). Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Marketing and Communications Program Manager will be responsible for developing a comprehensive program of marketing and public relations strategies to move RSDM forward in each of its strategic areas: education, research, clinical care, and community involvement. There will be a special emphasis on boosting patient enrollment at all RSDM clinics and promoting Rutgers University Dental Associates clinic locations in Newark and New Brunswick. The Marketing and Communications Program Manager will research healthcare and academic marketing strategies, in addition to placing advertising. Execution of strategies will entail development of print and electronic publications and social media platforms to promote the dental school to constituents including: students/prospective students, faculty, staff, patients/prospective patients, alumni, community organizations, researchers, funders, other schools within the university and central administration. The Marketing and Communications Program Manager will also overhaul website content and design, utilize web analytics to help increase online traffic; write journalistic pieces for internal Rutgers media and promote the school to outside media, in addition to creating media guidelines for staffers.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops a three to five year strategic marketing plan, including separate plans for academic programs and patient care.
Develops an annual marketing plan detailing the activities for the year along with a calendar of publication dates, for dental school events including alumni events and university publications.
Understands various constituencies and determines marketing strategy, reach, databases, and tactics for each constituent.
Helps plan and develop alumni communication efforts and creates platforms to reach alumni and prospective students.
Conducts and oversees marketing research for RSDM promotional materials.
Develops a strategy and tactics for social media as part of the execution of the marketing plan. Creates and oversees multi-platform social media presence.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, English, Public Relations, or Journalism; plus three (3) years of professional marketing communications experience.
Equivalent experience, education and /or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Evidence of superior writing, editing and public relations.
A record of producing high quality publications and marketing materials.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills.
Database management and working knowledge of publishing software.
