The Senior Writer & Social Media Manager is a talented writing professional with a strong project management skill set and experience developing and executing social media strategy. The senior writer is responsible for creating compelling copy and stories for RCC print publications, the website, and other digital marketing initiatives. The Manager is able to both develop and execute social media strategy, and crafts messages based on intended audiences. They support all department efforts aimed at increasing brand awareness and improving College reputation.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Executive Director
Writing, Copy Editing & Asset Production:
Composes feature stories and copy for RCC's bi-annual magazine, RCC's website and newsletters
Creates outlines and serves as primary production manager for RCC's bi-annual magazine and other large scale publications (print & digital).
Creates and composes Constant Contact emails, Eventbrite pages, and other digital marketing tools as needed
Copy-edits departmental content
Works with graphic designer to re-purpose photos and stories into digital and print marketing assets
Assists with the development of media pitches, as needed
Assist other departments with content development and refinement, as available
Social Media Management
Develops audience-specific social media strategy for all College social media channels, proactively reporting on success metrics.
Collaborates with departments to identify opportunities for organic, live content.
Sets guidelines and policies for College-approved social media accounts.
Executes and manages official social media profiles for RCC, using a combination of Hootsuite and platform management tools.
Works closely with the Marketing and Communications Team to create event materials including save-the-date notices, ads, invitations, program booklets, press releases and other promotional marketing materials to maximize outreach efforts.
Work with Executive Director to determine appropriate target audiences for events and programs.
For ticketed events: create and manage online event portal, producing reports on ticket sales as request.
Completes other special projects and oversees other programs intended to enhance the reputation of Roxbury Community College, as required.
BS in English, Marketing, or related field
Proven event management experience
Proven experience managing social media accounts, in a professional setting
Excellent time management and communication skills
Exceptional communications skills/Proven ability to communicate effective with a diverse range of constituencies
Ability to manage multiple projects independently
MS Office proficiency
This is a full-time, Non-unit Professional position.
Compensation Starting salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Appointment is subject to SORI (Sexual Offense Registry Information) background check, and a publicly accessible Massachusetts CORI (Criminal Offense Registry Information) background check.
