Associate Director - Graphic & Multimedia DesignAbout the OpportunityThe Associate Director of Graphic and Multimedia Design reports to the Senior Associate Director and is responsible for developing a multimedia and graphic design strategy, managing brands for the Office of Alumni Relations' (OAR) programs, events, and services, and producing the assets to support alumni engagement and philanthropic efforts. This role will execute various parts of a multi-channel integrated marketing mix including, graphic design, multimedia production, copywriting, and deliverables.
The Associate Director of Graphic and Multimedia Design will focus on the following:
1. Manage the OAR visual brand, develop and refine brand standards, and ensure compliance with internal and university brand standards across all marketing materials.
2. Represent OAR as a visual creative leader and connect OAR to the creative direction of the Advancement division.
3. Manage the development of multimedia assets that aid in marketing and communication for OAR, including photography, video and audio editing, website and WordPress maintenance, graphic and social media assets, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud (email).
4. Support the visual brand strategy with an emphasis on creating cohesive and dynamic visuals and media, and formatting for use across OAR channels (including web, email, social, and print).
5. Support OAR website strategy and webpage creation.
6. Develop high-level design for university initiatives across print, web, digital, and social, resulting in alumni interest and long-lasting and positive impressions of the university.
7. Establish relationships with print, product, and design vendors to provide flexibility in production process. Send projects out for competitive bid, where appropriate. Manage print production process including quotes, production proofs, and distribution of event collateral.
In addition, the role will also work within current trends in marketing and technology, and recommend fresh and creative ways to keep Northeastern alumni connected to and engaged with their alma mater.
The Associate Director of Graphic and Multimedia Design must be able to represent the university, the Advancement division and the OAR team in a professional, enthusiastic manner with excellent customer service and collaborative skills. As a member of the Advancement division, it is essential for the Associate Director, Graphic and Multimedia Design to understand and actively support the role philanthropy plays in engaging the Northeastern community. This position is required to perform their duties, in person, on the Boston campus. Evening and weekend work required as needs dictate. Other duties as assigned including assisting at several events throughout the year.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in marketing, communications or graphic design (or related field). At least four to six (4-6) years' experience in including graphic design, print and digital marketing, and multimedia production. Demonstrated proficiency in HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite, and CMS tools such as WordPress and Microsoft Excel. This position will help build and execute comprehensive marketing plans that may include; graphic design, digital marketing tactics, social media strategy, communication plans, website management, and email marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate is a passionate marketer and a jack-of-all trades. The Associate Director must be a creative thinker able to work independently and on teams in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects. The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communications skills. The Associate Director will be detail oriented, with a commitment to the highest professional standards, possesses a strong customer service focus, and have the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with alumni, volunteers, students, staff, faculty, vendors and external entities. Experience working in higher education a plus.
