We seek a highly motivated Assistant Marketing and Sales Manager, supporting our mission to publish books that endure, about ideas that matter. Reporting to the Marketing & Sales Director, you will assist in managing the sales initiatives and operations, ensuring the broadest possible reach for Stanford's acclaimed scholarly and trade publications in the humanities, social sciences, and executive education and development.
This is a 100% FTE, continuing position, based in our Redwood City, CA, office. Please include a cover letter with your resume.
With minimal supervision, participate in the development and implementation of sales and marketing initiatives, to strengthen SUP's presence within the scholarly community, and to broaden the Press's reach with wider audiences. Support cross-functional collaboration across the organization.
Execute sales and marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
Implement marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including collaboration with internal stakeholders, vendors, and operational partners.
Write, edit and schedule select marketing communications which adhere to communications and brand strategy for direction of and use by SUP's sales and distribution agents.
Manage the design and production of select marketing materials.
Review sales performance and contribute to sales strategy.
Conduct competitive benchmarking and analyze campaign/program/service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting.
Assess market opportunities and research market trends.
Manage participation in external conferences, events, and trade shows.
May plan and execute events to support marketing objectives.
Coordinate vendor estimates and invoice processing.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant sales and marketing experience, ideally to include at least one year of experience in scholarly publishing; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Previous experience in book publishing, emphasizing marketing and sales.
Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
Experience with managing projects.
Knowledge of marketing across channels including digital and print.
Familiar with market research and data analysis.
Creative problem solver.
Excellent oral and written skills.
