JOB SUMMARY Marriott International is seeking an experienced Creative Director to play a key role in developing the creative strategy, generating creative concepts and executing brand, visual identity, print, collateral, and digital marketing initiatives. The Creative Director will lead the internal creative team & manage external creative agencies in the development of breakthrough marketing campaigns in partnership with the Brand, Loyalty, & Content Marketing teams. The Creative Director must excel in highly conceptual design and display an aptitude for strategic thinking. The role will be a core member of the global creative center of excellence and be capable of leading creatives (art, copy, video, & design) to produce work that exceeds brand team expectations. The Creative Director will also partner with the Sr. Director, Agency Operations to develop a training & governance curriculum that engages our global Continent Marketing partners.
The Creative Director should have a well-rounded approach to developing multi-million-dollar marketing campaigns expressed through all mediums including: TV, Print, OOH, Social, & Experiential. An expert storyteller who can fashion award-winning narratives that build the brand through all mediums and delivers a unique experience. The job includes hands-on development as well as supervising external agencies and contractors to ensure that all collateral follows both brand and industry standards. Examples of new art executed includes photo-shoots, illustrations, digital imaging and the research of stock photography.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in Graphic Design, Art Advertising, Product Design, Advertising, or related field required
- 10+ years of art direction and design demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance required
- Creative agency, publisher or in-house brand creative leadership experience required
- Experience leading multi-million-dollar consumer marketing campaigns with a focus on TV, Print, OOH & Social, required
- Demonstrated experience with digital marketing and advertising design execution
- Demonstrated experience with Social Media marketing, content, and advertising
- In-depth and up-to-date understanding of design trends and industry best practices
- In-depth and up-to-date understanding of social platforms, devices and trends
- Experience handling and prioritizing multiple projects across multiple brands/ stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results under difficult conditions, particularly when faced with complexity and ambiguity.
- Experience with travel industry is a plus
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Leading strategy and execution of holistic digital and social initiatives:
- Partner with VP, Creative to set global center of excellence strategy & identify projects that will advance Marriott International business goals
- Ensure that creative meets brand guidelines and production standards.
- Leads a team of Associate Creative Directors - ensuring that each assignment attacks the business problem from different points of view while producing concepts consistent with the brand strategy.
- Serves as a Career Manager as the senior most design authority on the team, helping to elevate and guide the creative team members to apply modern design techniques and harness new ways of thinking to execute campaigns.
- Partner with Account Services team to proactively seek new projects from Brand, Content, & Continent teams.
- Supervise the execution of new art such as photo-shoot, illustrations, digital imaging and the research of stock photography
- Organize and prioritize the creative process so the approval process will not be delayed
- Work closely with entire internal team to develop effective, impactful ideas based on tactical plan.
- Oversee and implement visual strategy and workflow of digital marketing and advertising campaigns supporting the digital brand strategy.
- Manage agency / freelance resources and oversee strategic initiatives related to digital and social strategy for assigned brands.
Consult and partner with stakeholders to provide expertise:
- Liase with Marriott content studio to collaborate on influencer, MLive, and content creation where relevant.
- Liaise with internal social media teams to collaborate on best practices.
- Develop strong relationships with Marriott subject matter experts and channel leaders, agencies, media and distribution partners to cost-effectively maximize opportunities for the brand while ensuring high-quality on-strategy creative is delivered.
- Monitor and report out on industry best practices and competitive/landscape trends
- Liase with internal and external PR teams to ensure tight integration and holistic campaigns.
- Assist senior associates in achieving business results by:
