OverviewUniversity Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.
The Assistant Director plays a key role in the growth of online fundraising and digital philanthropy engagement strategies. They are responsible for executing the strategy of all annual fund digital initiatives, complex audience segmentation and donor engagement through numerous digital platforms. Oversee the project implementation for Rising Violets, NYU’s crowdfunding platform and serve as the operational point person for Marketo, UDAR’s email marketing platforms. They will maintain and enhance web presence, email outreach, digital engagement, digital micro testing, and audience segmentation. This role will enhance online outreach by managing the NYU giving site, including analytics, site redesign and updates, and manage troubleshooting related to online giving. Strengthen the user experience across digital initiatives by utilizing emerging technologies and best practices.
In addition to the above, the incumbent will also lead the digital tactical execution of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEIAB) fundraising initiatives. The Assistant Director, Digital Philanthropy advises UDAR senior emerging digital trends, analyzes the impact of digital fundraising initiatives across the University, and makes data-driven recommendations on strategic direction.

ResponsibilitiesRequired Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience:
3+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must include experience with digital direct response, marketing, and content management
Preferred Experience:
5+ years experience in an academic, non-profit and/or development environment
Familiarity with fundraising databases such as Advance and Blackbaud is a plus
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate and interact with various staff partners
Attention to detail to ensure content and data accuracy
Highly organized and ability to meet deadlines
Experience writing and developing content and working with external consultants and vendors
Highly familiar with web and digital marketing strategies, experience in digital content management systems, project management skills and associated software, Google Analytics reporting, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft office suite
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Digital fundraising knowledge of best practices
Proven record of increasing revenue through digital channels
Demonstrated ability to train others in technical aspects of digital tools and platforms
Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards
Experience with web design, social media engagement and analytic strategies, In-Design
Experience in higher education, non-profit, or development environment
