The Social Media Marketing Specialist is responsible for managing the main Miami University social media channels and the divisional social media accounts. The successful candidate will report directly to the Associate Director of social media and will work under the general guidance of the Director of Digital Marketing.
This position is approved for remote work on a hybrid basis. Remote work is not a right, but a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason. The main office for this position is in Oxford, Ohio.
Duties/Physical Demands:
The Social Media Marketing Specialist is responsible for implementing Miami University’s social media strategy developed in collaboration with the Associate Director of Social Media and the Director of Digital Marketing. In addition, the successful candidate will assist monitoring main and divisional social media accounts for content accuracy, appropriateness, logo, and brand usage across social platforms. —Create and update social media posting schedules —Reply to comments from subscribers (Except for sensitive communication) —Like tagged photos as appropriate — Coordinate with the marketing team to determine how to best market Miami University using social media —Assist with content/storytelling unit and Associate Director of Social Media to build up a content calendar —Assist in planning impactful and engaging content in collaboration with other content creators for all social media platforms, including writing social media posts and planning and creating compelling visuals. —Collaborate in developing the social media content calendars for each publishing period as determined by UCM leadership. — Create a methodology to ensure that the social media calendar includes balanced content consistent with the University’s brand identity, audiences, and priorities. — Ideate to implement a social communications plan and serve as the community manager on the University’s primary social media accounts, engaging users and responding to their questions on time. — Build relationships with key affiliate social media accounts across the University. — Use analytical tools and insights to monitor and evaluate the university’s social media accounts’ performance, and make adjustments for optimal results. — Stay current on best practices and emerging trends — Adhere to posting deadlines. — Manage and build a team of professional and student staff to develop authentic content which will engage prospective and current student populations. —Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, interactive media, or closely related field and have previous internship or one year of professional experience, or
Associate degree in communications, marketing, interactive media, or closely related field and have previous internship or professional experience of at least two years;
Proven experience in managing enterprise social media tools and technologies, including monitoring and digital marketing metrics.
This position is available to persons who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA.
