Job Summary:
The Creative Director leads the creative vision and strategy for the Kellogg brand and execution of all materials bringing the brand to life, across all degree programs, internal communications and thought leadership programming. This includes setting the brand strategy in partnership with peers – Sr. Director of Marketing and Sr. Digital Marketing Director, as well as hiring and managing internal and external creative resources. This role will work with multiple teams to ensure all outputs are on strategy and tied to the brand, while leading and cascading that vision to meet the needs of the multiple stakeholders of the Kellogg school. The Creative Director is a member of the IMC leadership team, which includes Marketing Strategy, Digital Marketing, Communications, Internal Comms, Events and Corporate Engagement, and will report to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. Responsibilities center on strategic planning to help determine the most impactful vehicles and creative approaches, as well as guiding creative and design direction to ensure quality and consistency across all materials to maintain, strengthen, and extend the Kellogg brand. This position is ultimately responsible for all design, copy, and production of marketing materials across the Kellogg School of Management.
Please note: This job requires a portion of time spent in the office versus working remotely, due to the collaborative requirements for success. In the beginning full-time in the office is assumed, at work from home schedule could be entertained based on business needs.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic oversight and direction for the Creative team members, as well as members of partner functions in Marketing, Communications, Internal Communications, Events and Corporate Engagement. Responsible for recruiting and selecting, developing, and coaching, rewarding, and retaining and optimizing diverse talent. Leads and coaches team to meet high performance standards and work across the organization with multiple constituents.
- Ensure that all Kellogg marketing materials supporting our brand delivery and stakeholder experiences deliver against the brand promise.
- Provides strategic direction and leadership for the internal team of graphic designers, copywriters, video, and photo editors, responsible for the creation and production of all Kellogg marketing materials, including print, digital, and video.
- Oversees the strategy development, creation and work of the designers, copywriters/content producers, web, and multimedia specialists in elevating the look and feel of Kellogg School brand.
- Leads both internal staff and outside agencies in the use of these standards and monitor/approve work to ensure compliance.
- Serves as liaison between outside agencies, freelancers and internal resources to ensure vision is maintained and material development and execution quality standards are met.
- Ensures that all marketing materials (entire 360 audience experience) meet brand standards - this includes material by third parties (partner schools and other organizations).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in writing, art or graphic design or related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in all aspects of creative ' print, video, web, etc.
- Exceptional graphic design, copy, video, web design skills and versatile experience in a range of multimedia applications.
- Strong, strategic understanding of brand vision and communications applications.

- Strong aptitude for creative vision and ability to navigate complex business topics and issues with a focus on developing creative solutions to achieve established goals.
- Ability to work with all levels of academic, administrative and student management.
- Strong understanding of the creative process from inception to delivery across all aspects of design and copy

- Strong organizational, project management, and workflow coordination skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities on tight timelines.
- Ability to analyze and integrate information from multiple sources.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 15 or more year’s professional experience in graphic design environment, including professional design firm, advertising or marketing agency.
