The primary role of the campus Photographer Videographer is to present IU South Bend's vision and mission using videography and photography via printed materials, on the university's YouTube and social media channels, streaming media, email marketing, the university website, among others. Collaborates with the Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) to tell the campus story, elevate the reputation of IU South Bend in the community, aid in enrollment marketing, chronicling student events and activities and boosting morale and school spirit through promotional interviews, video/photo shoots, and a variety of events campus wide.
Works with students and all levels of university faculty and staff as well as high level donors, alumni, and community partners and vendors, video production, shooting and editing a diverse range of videography projects, and photography on campus including the scheduling/coordinating of photo shoots and their archival.
Responsible for all technical tasks related to pre-production, production and post-production of video and photo projects, including care of equipment, transportation of, operation of and maintenance of university video and photography equipment
Fully produces high-quality promotional and informational videos and photos for schools, colleges, and departments on campus in an accurate and timely fashion.
Creates videos that capture and prompt audiences to watch and view other university videos while maintaining current subscribers and attracting new viewers.
Monitors and collects analytics to demonstrate ROI for video efforts.
Finds and identifies quality topics.
Sets up and handles equipment (lights, cameras, audio devices, etc.), including the successful storing, organization, and upkeep of equipment.
Arranges pre-production meetings and develops scripts and storyboard concepts for videos/streaming commercials and/or other video projects.
Updates and maintains pages/files as necessary (i.e., adding captions to videos to be in compliance with ADA Regulations).
Supports the overall mission of the Office of Communications and Marketing in the development of video elements, including finding interview subjects, generating graphics, and presenting video to clients and other groups.
Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements. Maintains archive of signed consent and release forms.
Maintains confidentiality of designated information.
Assists in mentoring any student workers and/or interns in the above-mentioned tasks.
Maintains schedule of all photography and video productions as assigned through the Office of Communications and Marketing.
Serves as liaison to independent contractors and other University approved vendors for photography and videography.
Organizes, maintains, and updates OCM's photo and video asset management system and archives.
Responds to requests for images, videos; providing access while maintaining integrity of historical archives and digital assets and complying with copyright and intellectual property laws.
Verifies integrity of media files; specify and implement quality control procedures.
Coordinates logistics for media, video and photo opportunities (scheduling, venue, communication with staff, etc.).
Under supervision, performs routine and increasingly complex administrative tasks related to marketing, such as drafting and editing communications for specific target audiences or student groups, packaging, promoting, and/or delivering promotional or educational materials, organizing promotional events, performing marketing research, and/or assisting with special projects.
Assists with editing and production of marketing materials, procurement of promotional and educational materials, packaging and distribution of marketing direct mail and email distribution, and maintenance of contact lists for vendors and marketing populations.
May monitor relevant social media and news sites and respond to customer inquiries to provide information and explain policies and procedures.
Manages accuracy of mailing and distribution lists; makes regular updates as there are staffing and/or process changes.
Prepares reports, marketing timelines, and calendars; monitors progress of marketing initiatives toward relevant deadlines, project timelines, programs, and strategies.
Serves as a resource to lower-level Marketing Assistants; may make process recommendations to supervisor.
High school diploma or GED
Bachelor's degree in relevant course of study
4 years in relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
