Job Summary
The IU Office of the Vice President for Communications and Marketing seeks a Marketing Data Analyst. The Marketing Data Analyst will be a forward thinker with an appetite for data accuracy, quality and integrity that can be used for analyses. This position owns the creation of data visualizations and audience segments that tell compelling stories. The analyst crafts reports and visualizations for constituents across the university and delivers insights with supportive data to further IU's strategic initiatives. Reports directly to the Analytics Leader to support these efforts.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Elevates the usage of Datorama, Google Marketing Platform and Microsoft Clarity to drive decision making across IU's web and digital space.
Serves as the SME for analytics on brand teams and supports these teams to execute digital marketing campaigns including tracking, reporting, optimizations, quality control, and communication of findings and recommendations.
Takes ownership of and solves needs for ad hoc analyses; is comfortable working within a matrix organization with discrete brand teams and shared team resources.
General Responsibilities
Provides experienced analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and performs testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools.
Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new business reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex environments and data.
Performs experienced analysis to interpret and determine validity and quality of data.
Performs migration and conversion of data as needed in support of analysis efforts.
Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and tools and makes recommendations for implementation to improve data analysis services and approaches.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information science, or a related field).
Preferred
Masters degree in Data Analytics, Business Administration, Marketing, MIS, Informatics, or a related discipline.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
2 years of data analysis, reporting, or related experience.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Preferred
Knowledge of and experience with Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Tableau, Microsoft Clarity, CSS.

Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve problems and handle multiple priorities critical.
Excellent collaboration and team building skills, including the ability to effectively and succinctly communicate key findings and insights.
Experience with Datorama and/or JavaScript.
Familiarity with R or Python.
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
