The success of recruiting, fundraising and communication for the College is deeply connected to having and applying an effective brand platform. The Graphic Designer will provide high-quality on-brand visual solutions for the communication needs of the Gordon College community using a mix of creative skills and awareness of the client’s needs. Ability to work quickly and stay on brand are necessary and an advanced knowledge of design software is expected. The position is under the supervision of the Creative Director and Art Director and reports to the Design Center Director.
Descriptions of Duties and Tasks:
Represent the college well through skillful and creative application of the College brand
Design and layout of printed publications including but not limited to: catalogs, postcards, ads, brochures, posters, signage, mailings and the College magazine
Design and creation of email and web content using HTML and CSS
Design, creation and sharing of digital marketing and social media content
Select and edit photography for the College
Select paper and finishing options for jobs and prepare files for print
Output of files optimized for various uses
Execute client and editor changes
Meet with clients to discuss job requests and specifications
Written and verbal communication with clients, editors and vendors

Bachelor’s degree in art or design
Understanding of composition, organization of information, typography and readability presented in different mediums
Ability to work quickly, prioritize projects and organize tasks
Expert experience with Adobe Creative Cloud software, especially: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat
Familiarity with: Microsoft Office, Slack, project management, etc.
Familiarity with application of design for social media and digital platforms such as web and email; knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus
MacOS operating system
Familiarity with mailing (sizes, folding, postal regulations)
Printing and production standards (prepress, color management, bindery, etc.)
Ability to work in an academic environment as a team player across multiple departments, programs and groups.
Ability to communicate with and manage projects with multiple vendors
Ability to work positively on multiple projects under tight deadlines
