Boston University's Center for Career Development (CCD) seeks an Associate Director of Marketing & Communications. The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications serves as a member of the leadership team of the Center for Career Development in crafting and maintaining a cutting-edge Marketing and Communications career office operation. This position develops, markets, and communicates the mission and vision of the Center of Career Development. This role supervises one professional staff member (Manager of Marketing & Communication) and one graduate student assistant, whose role is to oversee the CCDs Professional Clothing Closet. The Associate Director works directly with all members of the CCD, university communications units, and student employees. This is also part of the leadership team and will meet regularly with the Executive Director and other Associate Directors. This role reports to the Executive Director of the CCD.
The Associate Director's primary duties include:
- Serving as a member of the CCD leadership team to provide opportunities for collaboration and communication, implement a strategy for operations for a 20-person office, and offer consultation for other office teams;
- Developing a highly visible and effective marketing and communications strategy;
- Supervising the Marketing & Communications Team in building and enhancing the CCD brand, both on-campus and externally;
- Supervising and supporting the Manager of Marketing & Communication, including hiring, training, assigning work, problem resolution, evaluating performance, progressive discipline, and termination;
- With staff, developing, producing, and maintaining video and audio assets (podcasts, streaming videos, etc.) of workshops, events, alumni stories, student internship stories, etc.)
- which can be used on the website or in other venues on or off-campus;
- Oversight of the development and distribution of routine communications to constituents while consulting with the leadership team, and;
- Overseeing maintenance and promotion of Professional Career Closet.

About the Candidate:
A Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, with a minimum of three years of communication and marketing experience, are required for this position.
The following are preferred attributes, but are not required for consideration:
- A degree in marketing, communication, English, or a related field
- A Master's degree
- Experience in higher education or a university career unit, or retail experience.

- Possesses an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail and organization skills;

- Demonstrates interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, colleagues, etc.
- Has a proven record of strong supervisory skills, and;
- Is experienced in the creative use of technology in service delivery and standards for accessibility of use.
While the following experience and skills will be helpful in performing this role, the department is willing to train them with the right candidate:
- Facility with data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Knowledge about best practices, trends, and new ideas/research in career development and career readiness.
