Under the general supervision of the Graphics Manager, the Graphic Design Specialist designs print marketing materials for all Associated Students' departments, facilities and programs. Provides print and web ad design for the campus newspaper, The Daily Aztec. Responsible for the digital signage throughout the Student Union, including creating graphic display images and scheduling run times. Assists with ongoing design and maintenance of the A.S. websites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conceptualizes, designs, and produces a wide range of specialized print and digital marketing materials, as appropriate. Makes corrections and changes to materials as appropriate
Produces marketing materials on a Mac platform using: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
Works closely with A.S. staff and student committees on design projects, providing professional graphics design advice
Works closely with the Graphics Manager to establish and maintain graphic production timelines
Produces print and online ads for The Daily Aztec and coordinates proofing with the A.S. Student Media Coordinator. Work directly with advertisers as needed
Assists with developing and creating The Daily Aztec sales marketing materials, including media kits and sales flyers
Responsible for creation and scheduling of digital marketing images on display in the Student Union, using the Carousel Digital Signage system
Provides assistance with the day-to-day maintenance and design of all A.S. websites.
Work with part-time student designers, providing insight and support
Provides oversight of the Graphics department in the absence of the Graphics Manager and A.S. Web Design Coordinator
Certificate from accredited Graphic Design vocational program or AA degree in Graphic Design from accredited Community College required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Two years of experience in graphic design for print required.
Excellent working knowledge of Adobe In-Design, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, on a Mac platform required.
Experience in web design and maintenance, with a working knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver, on a Mac platform preferred.

Ability to operate a Mac computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel) and ability to learn and utilize new software programs such as timekeeping programs, digital image scheduling programs and graphic design programs.
Ability to gather and organize data, draw logical conclusions and discern implications.
Well organized, ability to effectively multi-task, ability to prioritize work, problem solve, make decisions and meet scheduled deadlines under pressure.
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Starting Range: $20.75 - $22.75 per hour
SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a regular, full-time position with expected hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
