This is a full-time position with benefits, based at San Diego Symphony locations: The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and Jacobs Music Center. There is also an opportunity for this position to be hybrid (partially remote).
The San Diego Symphony is looking for a dynamic, experienced professional to be an integral member of the Symphony's Marketing and Communications team.
The Director of Marketing is responsible for executing successful renewal, acquisition and sales campaigns that meet and exceed the San Diego Symphony’s earned revenue goals. This team leader will develop a comprehensive plan to set and drive attendance and revenue goals for all performances and events. The position will work alongside talented team members that work on media relations, design, corporate sponsorships, ticketing operations, group sales, telemarketing efforts and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, execute and manage all aspects of marketing for San Diego Symphony and The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, to achieve and exceed earned revenue and attendance goals and support fundraising goals.
Develop and execute annual subscription and single-ticket plans and campaigns
Develop institutional goals for marketing on an annual basis; create and maintain yearly plan to achieve institutional growth and goals
Develop strategic utilization of direct mail, e-mail and digital capabilities to maximize earned revenue and achieve set marketing strategies
Coordinate with box office, front-of-house and IT teams to achieve optimum ticket purchasing paths and customer experience
Develop branding, media planning and media partnerships, and execution of media buying
Understand key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends in order to translate results into actionable insights for Symphony leadership team
Identify short-term and long-term scheduling, budget, and resource needs, including the development and management of an annual marketing budget, profit/loss projections, expenditure spending, and other financial considerations
Spearhead the strategic and tactical execution of marketing campaigns, including design of test/control segmentation, tracking, results reporting, analysis, and recommendations
Manage conception, development, and implementation of marketing plan and strategies, product concepts, and promotional programs to drive interest and sales
Work with local, regional, and national groups to develop San Diego Symphony’s role in marketing and promotion of the city and region

4 years progressive marketing leadership experience in organizations focused on classical music; 5-10 years of Marketing experience required in orchestral/symphonic industry
Extensive knowledge of and interest in classical music
Successful leadership experience achieving earned revenue goals in the arts or related field
Enthusiastic self-starter, with the ability to inspire others and to lead a creative team in the development and implementation of comprehensive and data-driven sales and communications plans
Able to complete tasks on deadline and work in new and innovative ways to expand the boundaries of traditional marketing, media buying and ticket sales
Able to work under pressure with limited resources to produce results; multi-tasking, time management, organizational, planning, team-building and leadership skills imperative
Thorough understanding of existing and emerging best practices in marketing, especially those specific to the performing arts
Demonstrated commitment to leadership in the areas of equity and access and an ability to articulate and achieve goals of increasing engagement with new demographic groups
Significant knowledge of online marketing and ability to integrate social and digital media into communications and marketing efforts
Knowledge of Tessitura software a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Very strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
Database and Microsoft Office skills and excellent copy writing skills required
Basic graphic and Web design skills a plus. Spanish language skills a plus
