The UMMS Office of Communication, in partnership with the Center for Interprofessional Education and Michigan Medicine RISE (Research. Innovation. Scholarship. Education), is seeking a talented and energetic individual to help shape and communicate our stories of innovation, promote our programs, and inspire others to join our efforts.
We are looking for someone who is a skilled, creative and versatile communicator, and also enjoys building relationships and sparking dialog with a broad and diverse set of collaborators.
This individual will report to the Education Lead in the Medical School’s Office of Communication. Approximately 40% of their effort will focus on collaboratively and creatively promoting Medical School educational programs and recruitment aimed at both internal and external audiences using a broad range of communications skills and tools.
Approximately 60% of this individual’s time will be spent working closely with the Administrative Directors of the Center for IPE and RISE and our small teams to develop strategies and tactics for communicating our stories. This individual will also collaborate with our large constituency of faculty, staff and learners across the three U-M campuses and the academic medical center. The successful candidate will embed themself in important aspects of our work to promote our visions, while keeping a careful eye on the details of how others perceive our work.
- Write, edit and coordinate content for blogs, social media, websites, email campaigns, newsletters, event communications and reports.
- Build on existing marketing materials, digital media and other communications techniques to highlight successes and opportunities, and tell the emerging stories of interprofessional and health science education at the University of Michigan.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Michigan Medicine and main campus communications departments, strategic partners and peer institutions.
- Enhance and maintain the social media presence of the Center for IPE and RISE and contribute to social media activities across UMMS programs.
- In coordination with the Michigan Medicine Department of Communication, manage program websites with input from team members and use analytics to improve performance.
- Manage annual report content development and outsourced design.
- Develop a marketing strategy and annual communication plan in collaboration with the Center and RISE Administrative Directors to identify new marketing communications opportunities to reach and engage students, faculty and staff.
- Assist with event planning and staffing, as needed, including promotional activities.
- Coordinate special projects with varied stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three years of relevant work experience in communications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience managing or contributing to websites, social media accounts, and other content and digital marketing efforts.
- Organized, adaptable and collaborative.
- Familiarity with communications around clinical and/or educational environments.
