As a core part of the team, this position will play an integral role in developing, executing and optimizing marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives. This position provides leadership and support for the development and implementation of data-driven marketing strategies that increase student enrollment and retention on the IU Kokomo campus and increases IU Kokomo's visibility in the community.
Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to general communications methodologies and standards.
Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives.
Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
Conducts research on emerging technologies, services, protocols/processes, and/or standards in support of communications efforts.
Responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address needs across the Indiana University Kokomo campus.
Provides counsel to the chancellor, campus leadership, deans and program directors regarding strategic marketing initiatives to support key performance metrics.
Serves as the primary contact for the news media and as spokesperson for the University.
Develops and evaluates strategies for both annual enrollment and long-term growth based on data and insights. As higher education pivots, we need teammates who can think fast, understand data and move projects forward. Most days move quickly and are not the same.
Manages an integrated marketing plan and specific marketing tactics for distinct market segments, including creative material.
Leads Office of Communications & Marketing in development of communications and marketing functions of the campus.
Writes and/or edits official campus communications and selected public remarks for the chancellor.
Assists chancellor with additional media and communication efforts.
Directs operations for the marketing and communications function by providing oversight and direction within a department, large multifaceted department, or multiple departments.
Hires, trains, evaluates, coaches, assigns work, sets goals and objectives, determines staffing needs, and directs the work of a team of Communications Generalists and/or Communications Assistants.
Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders; determines communications needs, projects, and programs to align with objectives and goals and manages processes such as the development of communications timelines related to such initiatives.
Reviews drafts of communications and projects and coaches on grammar, tone, branding guidelines, formatting, and other elements that may affect the perception of messaging or reputation of the department.
Responds to escalated and complex inquiries and requests and explains policies, procedures, and context of communications.
Assists in budget planning and administration for communications initiatives, including expenditures, revenue projections, and program costs.
Monitors industry trends and best practices, makes process and operational and strategic recommendations to manager, and assists in implementing recommendations to optimize operations and progress toward objectives.
Provides guidance to lower-level communications Leaders.
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or related field
4 years in relevant field
1 year of management experience in relevant field
Experience with digital marketing campaigns
Experience with social media strategy

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
