Jackson County Tourism Development Authority is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Social Media and Marketing professional. This position will be responsible for the management of social media marketing platforms to increase lodging occupancies and visitors to Jackson County.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
Social and Digital Marketing Platforms
Social Media content creation and calendar management across all consumer-facing social media: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest & Twitter.
Create paid social media ads in Facebook Ads Manager.
Manage and program a $10,000 / month social media spend.
Lead content strategy for the month and provide direction to Social Media Marketing Associate who reports to this position.
Create Staff Report with monthly Social Media metrics.
Perform the day-to-day tasks of posting, monitoring, editing, and commenting on all consumer-facing social channels.
Engage social channel community in comments, answer questions and provide ongoing support online.
Acquire rights to user generated content in CrowdRiff platform (training provided).
Event discovery and management with external partners, social media, and web teams.
Source and organize user generated content that fits brand and obtain usage rights and approvals.
Keep JCTDA website events and listings up to date.
Represent the TDA at meetings as needed.
Attend all JCTDA status update calls, meetings and other events as needed.
Collaborate with partners and media on imagery and content.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
This position requires a seasoned specialist in social media with prior experience managing paid social media & strategy.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to execute and manage social media activities.
Creative mindset to create and oversee social media campaigns, content calendars, promotions, giveaways, etc.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with Sprout Social, Canva, Adobe Express, and other social media platforms is a plus. References required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, hospitality and tourism, or related field plus minimum 1-2 years relevant work experience in a sales/marketing related position along with digital asset management skills. An equivalent combination of demonstrated knowledge, training, education, and experience may be considered.
Must maintain a valid NC driver license.
This position performs work under the general direction of the JCTDA Executive Director.
Supervision of Others
This position will have a Social Media Specialist who reports to them.
Complexity – Communication Requirements
Performs a major portion of duties through verbal and written communications. Must possess ability to communicate with clarity, while understanding and explaining complex situations to team members, partners and outside contacts.
Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in sedentary to medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (25-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a computer or workstation and/or extended periods of time standing and walking.
