Responsibilities
The Social Media & Community Manager is a key member of Columbia College???s innovative and mission-driven Marketing, Communications, and Events Teams. The Manager reports to the Director of Digital Marketing and plays a critical role in driving awareness and engagement across our social channels while supporting our marketing objectives and the College???s strategic goals. With a strong mastery of written and visual storytelling, brand, design, and a proven track record of driving growth through organic social content, this individual leads the end-to-end process of social media campaigns and helps build a connected, engaged, and empowered Columbia College community.
Social Media
Develop and schedule organic social content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, growing engagement and conversation while upholding Columbia College???s voice and visual identity across the social space.
Develop and maintain a monthly content calendar, monitoring relevant events across Columbia College and University and ensuring alignment with our broader marketing calendar and business goals.
Produce posts to support College-wide MarComm initiatives, as well as stand-alone social media campaigns.
Suggest new ways (e.g. promotions, contests, competitions, etc.) to attract new and relevant followers.
Continuously adapt to emerging trends, new features and shifts in the ever-changing social landscape.
Community & Content Management
Write engaging social copy with a focus on our students, faculty and alumni audiences, and lead day-to-day community engagement across platforms, building relationships with followers and influencers.
Work cross-functionally with our Editorial Team to identify content that can be leveraged across channels.
Source and curate high-quality UGC to feature in our content and identify potential third party creators to collaborate with.
Obtain feedback and gather ideas from our audiences through real interactions.
Monitor positive/negative comments and topic trends, and strive to boost engagement and resolve potential conflicts.
Assist with shot list development and social media photoshoots.
Reporting
Deploy social listening tools and UTM tags to track, analyze, and report on the performance of campaigns, content, and overall sentiment analysis.
Collect and analyze web metrics such as visits, time on site, page view, click-through rates as well as user engagement, etc.; compile metrics in monthly reports.
Develop an optimal posting schedule considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience managing social media channels and creating content at a brand, agency, or media outlet.
Bachelor???s Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to execute projects on time & work collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
Expert knowledge of all current social media platforms.
Strong writing skills with experience creating compelling social media content.
Experience with content tools and DAMs (such as Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Premiere editing software, Curalate, Sprinklr, Sprout, Later, Iconosquare, Canva, and Planoly) and digital marketing tools such as Facebook Business Suite, Adobe Analytics, Google Ads.
Team player with ability to navigate complex organization.
Copywriting skills and talent for producing powerful visual content in a variety of formats???still images to graphics, GIFs, Instagram stories and reels, TikTok videos, and more.
Up to date on latest social trends, new platforms and features, and channel-specific best practices.
Detail-oriented and can diligently manage a calendar; ensure projects are executed in a timely manner and in alignment with team???s goals.
Data-driven and able to use insights to understand what content is performing best while strategizing how to deliver more of it.
Able to effectively translate mission into message with a passion for higher education.
