Job Summary: The Web Strategist II uses specialized technical and/or web-centered digital marketing knowledge to manage or support college-level websites. Works under moderate supervision.
Additional Department Summary: The Digital Content Manager oversees the content in support of all the Culverhouse College of Business communications enterprise. This work will be achieved via web and internet, and overall internet communications. Supervises the planning, creation, editing, and publication of digital content, which primarily focuses on College websites but also includes text, photos, non-promotional and promotional videos, digital signage, and related products. Devises and coordinates the College's digital communication efforts as a key element of its overall marketing and communications strategy as well as the development and implementation of content according to a defined strategy and utilizing strict quality control standards. Targets online communications for state, regional, national, and international access as part of the College's integrated marketing communications plan, working closely with the Director of Communications for the College and other key stakeholders.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in web design, marketing, advertising & public relations, management information systems, journalism, human-computer interaction, computer science, or equivalent field and one (1) year of experience managing websites in a content management system.
Skills and Knowledge: Well versed in video and audio production. Ability to prioritize, organize and handle multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively with management, students, educators, and stakeholders. Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer-service, and multi-tasking skills. Strong writing and editing skills for wide range of audiences, especially for web presentation. Well versed in AP style, with sharp eye for grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Demonstrated experience as a content management system (CMS) contributor or administrator. Understands HTML and CSS and has an expert level of familiarity with Wordpress. Knowledge of social media, SEO, and SEM best practices; demonstrates an interest in emerging digital marketing trends. Ability to learn new programs and adapt to new technologies. Ability to work independently and take initiative, with strong team collaboration and coordination skills. Ability to develop and enforce branding, identity, and style guidelines. Understanding of source/version control. Proficiency in standard office applications including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Adept at photo and video shooting, editing, and final production. Ability to translate complicated communications/marketing requests into actionable strategies and tactics. Professional communicator with expertise in digital communications and marketing techniques and best practices. Adept at photo and video shooting, editing, and final production. Proficient at audio engineering. Ability to translate complicated communications/marketing requests into actionable strategies and tactics.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related area and at least two years of experience in the field, such as Journalism, Marketing, Creative Writing, Public Relations, Web Marketing, etc. Proficiency in essential graphic design applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and InDesign. Experience in LAMP (Linux, Apache, mySQL, and PHP) environment and Wordpress.
