The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Marketing & Communications Officer to join our team in a full time position. Columbia University Irving Medical Center???s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. The desired candidate will join a small, active, collegial team that develops, implements, and evaluates Department of Pediatrics marketing/communications efforts. We aim to reach academic peers, referring physicians, and patient families using a range of distribution channels, informing them about our amazing medical providers, our outstanding education and training program, and our broad and deep research program geared to improving the health of children.

Writing, developing, and editing engaging content for marketing and communications products, including social media posts, newsletters, brochures, websites, emails and advertising campaigns, and video production projects.
Participate in all departmental marketing activities, including (but not limited to): creation and mailing of e-newsletters, website content updates, social media postings, design and production of print materials and collateral, creation and management of content for print and digital distribution, event promotion and planning.
Work with internal and external production assets to oversee digital media production, including still photography and video shoots for promotional use, patient testimonials, and provider profiles.
Provide support for marketing events and outreach opportunities as required.
Develop strong understanding of brand identity and work to maintain and promote brand integrity throughout all internal and external marketing efforts.
Assist department leadership in identifying opportunities to improve internal and external marketing communications, and recommend steps to improve outcomes.
Perform additional support tasks as assigned by department leadership.
Bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus two years of related experience.
Previous work in a healthcare setting.
Strong writing skills, and ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively.
Familiarity with website content management (Drupal), SEO, email marketing (Mailchimp or similar), social media marketing and management, google ads and analytics.
Experience using Adobe creative suite or similar design software/programs to produce digital content.
Ability to undertake multiple tasks simultaneously, coordinate with internal and external colleagues, and set goals to meet tight deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
Ability to build strong working relationships with all levels of faculty and staff, both internally and externally.
