Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications (DM&C), the Web and Creative Marketing Specialist will work in tandem with members of the External Affairs team to ensure goals are met with precision, positivity, and professionalism.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, writing, and technical skills; and must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with various constituents throughout the School. This is a salaried, 40 hours per week minimum, year-round position with an excellent benefits package.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Web Design & Management
Design and modify content of base templates, page templates, web site pages and images, site permissions, icons, buttons, and stylized textual content as needed.
Routinely review the site to reveal out-of-date content, broken links, or the existence of content which fails to abide by standard web site requirements. Develop internal web maintenance systems to ensure accountability (e.g. annual, monthly, weekly.)
Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities.
Serve as primary point-of-contact between the School and contracted web consultant.
Videography
Execute video production projects, both shooting and editing short-form videos.
Build and maintain school video library including categorized raw b-roll, interviews, and archived final videos.
Record weekly Community Meetings; post full or featured segments to School’s YouTube channel as appropriate.
Communications
Produce weekly Nuts & Bolts e-newsletter.
Serve as the primary distributor of family communications.
Write and edit copy as needed across all communication channels.
Serve as primary school photographer; build and maintain school photography library; coordinate coverage when not available (sports, events, classroom, arts, etc.); post to SmugMug.
Serve as the point-of-contact and coordinate photography (and videography) shoots throughout the year.
Graphic Design
Design Derryfield Today magazine and work collaboratively with magazine editors.
Work with offset and digital print vendors to ensure projects are completed on time and per bid specifications.
Design internal and external print and digital materials to support the goals of the External Affair team (Enrollment, Philanthropy & Engagement, and Marketing & Communications.)
At least three years of professional experience in front-end web development and digital/mobile design that results in a rich and dynamic user experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
Experience developing web-based creative elements, using HTML and HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, digital media production for web, and content management systems (e.g.WordPress).
Experience shooting and editing professional photos and videos.
Highly collaborative and team-oriented style.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of content management systems and processes.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet ambitious deadlines while maintaining passion and a positive attitude.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of and/or experience in independent schools.
Experience developing motion graphics and animations.
Experience with Blackbaud Online Express, and email marketing software.
Demonstrated proficiency with video editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut).
