The purpose of NASPA Advisory Services is to:
Provide higher education institutions—particularly institutional executives, including presidents, deans, and vice presidents—with mission-sensitive guidance on strengthening essential practices and critical elements for divisions of student affairs;
Offer an external examination of student affairs divisions and programs, providing expert perspective, meaningful insight, and valuable recommendations with an emphasis on foundational elements of review;
Strengthen the functionality, productivity, and effectiveness of a student affairs division or program within its respective college or university mission and culture.
NASPA Advisory Services is designed to be applicable to divisions of student affairs and services regardless of institutional mission, size, function, organization, and budget. Our services are not a form of accreditation, ranking, rating, or scoring but, instead, include thorough self-assessments and external expertise to assist divisions of student affairs and services for the previously stated purposes.
About the Position
The Manager of Advisory Services Self-Assessment and Professional Development provides primary oversight for managing the recruitment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of NASPA Advisory Services self-assessment-related programs (e.g. P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. and the 32 NCSI) as well as provides administrative coordination and support for Advisory Services online learning opportunities. As a member of the NASPA Advisory Services team, this staff member will also support program implementation for other team initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. Self-Assessment
Manage all aspects of standalone, cycle-based, and external review affiliated P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. self-assessments including, program planning, implementation, tracking, and evaluation.Serve as the liaison to all P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. participants, providing exemplary customer support
Develop and execute an effective recruitment strategy to register approximately 20 colleges and universities in the self-assessment cycle annually.
In conjunction with the Data Analytics team, create custom reports for all institutions who administer the assessment.
Manage content updates to the P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. self-assessment and supporting accreditor mapping documentation.
Oversee administration of expanded P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. technical support, including recruitment and management of advisors, coordination of client communication, participation in advising calls, and production of summary reports.
32 NCSI Self-Assessment
Manage all aspects of 32 NCSI self-assessments including, program planning, implementation, tracking, and evaluation
Serve as the liaison to all 32 NCSI participants, providing exemplary customer support
Identify, develop and execute marketing strategies for the program, including coordinating distribution of collateral to applicable NASPA professional development events.
In conjunction with the Data Analytics team, create custom reports for all institutions who administer the assessment.
Provide administrative and logistical support for content updates to the 32 NCSI self-assessment
Serve, with the Director, as a liaison between NASPA and the VTV Foundation. Provide data for regular annual reporting and payment to the Foundation.
Online Learning
Oversee the administration of NASPA Advisory Services P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E.S. Live Briefing Series including assisting in the identification and development of new Series online learning content, managing and hosting the production of Series online learning events, and providing exceptional customer service to users.
Collaborate with the Online Professional Development team to include Series within the larger NASPA online learning community offerings.
Collaborate with marketing and communications to create aspects of marketing collateral for series to include live-briefing websites, digital marketing, and social media postings.
NASPA Advisory Services
Support team initiatives, as needed including: editing reports of student affairs external reviews, website management, and project coordination.
Represent the team at local, regional, and national events, including conferences, tabling and delivering online and in-person presentations
Assists with all-NASPA projects and participates actively in staff meetings and projects.
Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned to support the association.

Employment Status
Full-time Exempt: Exempt employees by definition are exempt from overtime compensation requirements of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, and are required to work as the job demands on a no time limit basis.
This position may be based anywhere in the contiguous 48 states.
It is the employee’s responsibility to provide reliable internet capabilities for any work location outside of the Washington, D.C. office.
Please note, the NASPA Washington, D.C. Office is in mostly-open status at this time. The status of the office is subject to change at any time.
Travel
Occasional overnight travel to represent NASPA at events, on college and university campuses, and in-person meetings is an essential function of this position. Locations vary and can include sites outside of taxi service from major airports. As a result, the position is required to have the ability to travel independently, including air travel, navigating ground transportation, and occasionally driving a rental car.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily office-based with primary work on a computer, including phone, email, and video conferencing.
Responsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines and support events and programs.
Additional COVID-19 Information
Vaccination is not a requirement for employment. However, all employees are strongly encouraged to follow the CDC guidance on vaccination, including becoming fully-vaccinated and staying up-to-date as eligible. All employees may flex their schedules for time taken to receive and recover from COVID-19 vaccinations.
In certain circumstances, NASPA may require testing for all staff regardless of vaccination status.
Masks must be worn per local, state, tribal, and federal guidance, including the CDC, with the most stringent level of guidance followed. Regardless of guidance, all employees must have masks available should masking be requested by other employees, members, or external constituents. In certain settings, NASPA may require or strongly recommend that employees wear masks.
At the present time, NASPA will not require any employee to participate in in-person activities on behalf of the Association, regardless of their individual job duties. Job duties related to these activities will be conducted remotely where possible or reassigned as necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s Degree in higher education administration or related field, preferred.
Three to five years of relevant, full-time, working experience; previous experience in higher education and/or project management, preferred.
A proactive, flexible, and positive orientation to successfully work in an ambiguous, dynamic organization.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships inside and outside the organization with stakeholders, customers, and colleagues.
Demonstrated writing and communication skills.
Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required. Knowledge of educational delivery systems and computer software programs relevant to online instruction and web page design (including video editing software, audio editing software, content management systems, and learning management systems) preferred.
Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
