SGSM is the umbrella department for several student-run organizations, which include the Associated Students, University of California, Irvine (ASUCI), Associated Graduate Students (AGS), Student Bar Association (SBA), Merage Student Association (MSA) and Associated Medical Student Government (AMSG), the New University, KUCI, Anthology, and Alternative Media. Working under the supervision of the Creative Specialist, the Creative Coordinator works with key communicators within the SGSM units to establish and strengthen the SGSM brand and sub-brands, ensure that the publications(Yearbook), print, and digital media meet the departmental & institutional goals and objectives, and create and maintain the consistency of the SGSM image, identity, and look throughout the various media and across campus through coordinated campaigns with on-campus entities. The Coordinator will work with various SGSM stakeholders on developing and executing designs for campaigns for events & programs. The position will be a direct-assistant position in the event the Specialist is unavailable. This position is responsible for assisting in the overall design of the SGSM departmental, divisional, and event collateral, including all printed and electronic materials. Assists in organizing, editing, and managing the electronic and written publications and processes, including: conceptualizing, planning, solicitation, and editing of material supplied by clients, creation of original content, design, and production. Assists with SGSM sub-departments to manage publications and communication workflow. Assists and provides leadership in the implementation of SGSM branding to units in the division. Assists in conceptualizing, designing, editing, and publishing content and graphics for multimedia communications, publications, and other materials as appropriate to department needs.
Assists in marketing activities and responsibilities such as drafting promotional or marketing materials, working on marketing events, and conducting basic market research, etc. Activities and assignments are designed to expose incumbents to fundamental marketing concepts and principles.

Required:
Bachelor's in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or relevant field with two or more years of directly related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Strong and effective communication skills, both oral and written, to coordinate and interact professionally with students, campus departments, and off-campus representatives. Highly professional, outstanding, and positive customer relation skills with clients. Ability to create, design, and illustrate marketing collateral such as graphics, photographs, layouts, merchandise, signage, social media ads, digital advertisements, and other visuals. Demonstrated ability to create and implement projects and products on-time with high creativity and quality in both concept and detail as well as within budget. Organizational skills and ability to plan project production and expedite jobs to meet deadlines. Basic knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, techniques and practices. Basic knowledge of the campus and / or medical center, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat, and others as needed. Skilled working with teams and collaborating. Knowledge of printing and production procedures. Ability to research, identify, and analyze trends and new technologies in order to make recommendations on new campaigns and new media to the Creative Specialist. Skill to interpret and apply guidelines and policies and communicate them to users. Ability to clearly articulate policies and procedures to student staff. Must have a high level of accuracy and thoroughness. Demonstrated ability to give strict attention to detail and accuracy. Professional and academic training in graphic design and fine arts, photography, computer-aided design, and editorial practices, including layout, design, and editing. Ability to work with and around student timelines, needs, and challenges with the ability to multi-task projects and be flexible with changing timelines and program needs. Ability to multi-task in all types of scenarios. Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of essential functions, deadlines, and shifts in workload.
Preferred:
Basic knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, techniques and practices. Basic knowledge of the campus and / or medical center, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure. Knowledge of UCI policies and procedures. Special Conditions Required:
This is a full-time, 40-hours per week position requiring flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends. Will be given advanced notice of flexibility if needed.
