The manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. This position requires a highly professional and organized individual to manage strategic communication and development duties for the Central Stewardship team for the institution's largest donor, referred to as the Foundation. The Communications Associate will oversee and execute strategic communications projects from conception to reality. This position includes regular communication and correspondence with senior leadership at JHU and the Foundation. The Communications Associate will plan, design, implement, and manage communications, marketing, and public affairs strategies to achieve defined goals, and is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication plan for the Foundation. This role will be responsible for the writing and production of a wide variety of communication vehicles, including grant reporting, marketing and promotion materials, and leadership briefings.
The successful candidate will be skilled in managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously and effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Most duties involve sensitive and/or confidential information. This position reports to the Sr. Associate Director of the Central Stewardship team for the Foundation. The individual in this position exercises independent judgment in the resolution of administrative challenges and performs under pressure with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop strategies to showcase the Foundation's impact at JHU and provide the Foundation with updates, reports, and high-level stewardship pieces highlighting the impact.
Provide consultation and recommendations related to communications for major publications and/or significant initiatives/programs funded by the Foundation - including gift proposals, media releases, and/or websites for DAR entities.
Responsible for promoting visibility of JHU faculty, programs, and students through a variety of approaches for the Foundation.
Serve as subject matter expert in multiple communication vehicles.
Provide editorial oversight and review of communications vehicles for area.
Proactively work with faculty, students, and staff on developing, writing, and designing content for web and other platforms including text, audio, and video.
Manage the production of materials and reports including selection and layout of artwork, graphics, pictures, and illustrations.
Work with peers within JHU, DAR, and central communications to align strategy with overall school and university goals; achieve consistency of voice and messaging, in adherence with all university branding and messaging guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field
Four years related experience
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
Preferred Qualifications
Superior organizational and writing skills, including the ability to draft original materials.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Analytics, social media and digital marketing platforms, and the ability to learn new software.
Events experience, including planning, managing, and staffing.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to translate complex research or scientific data into materials for lay audiences.
Ability to be flexible and composed in rapidly changing situations and to thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform within severe time constraints with the highest degree of accuracy, effectiveness, and diplomacy.
Must possess exceptional organizational skills with high-functioning attention to detail.
Ability to make independent decisions using careful judgment and action in order to determine priorities.
Maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
