Job Summary

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks a Digital Content Manager to join its Digital Experience team. RISD's Digital Experience team reports into both the Divisions of Marketing + Communications and Information Technology Services (ITS). The Marketing + Communications team, composed of Creative, Digital Experience and Public Relations, articulates, stewards and promotes RISD's brand to create connections with the institution by discovering and sharing stories about the RISD community; developing, managing and consulting on all visual and verbal expressions of the institution; and providing direction and support to campus communicators. Information Technology Services (ITS) promotes institutional success by providing campus partners with value-adding information management services and a continuously modern and up-to-date technological infrastructure.

The Digital Content Manager is responsible for the coordination and execution of strategically consistent, intentional and audience-focused experiences for RISD's online audiences. The Digital Content Manager develops, publishes and maintains both new and existing content across the RISD web ecosystem, while playing a key role in driving continuous improvement in RISD's content governance processes. Essential Functions:

• Under the direction of the Associate Director, Digital Content Production and Operations, the Digital Content Manager leads and executes initiatives across divisional areas as assigned. Creates new and refined existing digital experiences across RISD's web ecosystem, delivering projects on time and in alignment with RISD's brand standards.

• Works closely with campus partners and stakeholders to plan, create, evolve and, in some cases, maintain digital content experiences, setting clear and accurate expectations about strategic vision and project status as appropriate.

• Develops, maintains and publishes content in RISD's content management platform and uses the platform to translate strategies into new or updated risd.edu experiences.

• Writes, edits and proofreads copy as needed for new and existing sites and updates existing content periodically as needed. Ensures that all site content is timely, on-brand, accessible, stylistically consistent and SEO-optimized.

• Coordinates 3rd-party agency and vendor relationships as assigned.

• Manages the efficacy of campus communications by providing advice, counsel and direction to campus communicators on content and coordination. Creates detailed, user-friendly, and brand-appropriate support documentation and provides training to campus communicators as needed.

• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of processes related to websites and digital systems as assigned; including but not limited to quality assurance testing, search optimization, accessibility and overall performance. Recommend and implement workflows as approved to maximize efficiency and site effectiveness.

• Keeps up with emerging technologies, innovations, digital trends and evolving best practices, identifying and recommending which are appropriate for RISD and implementing if approved.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience

• Proven ability to work within an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion and with people from a broad range of interests and backgrounds, including but not limited to: socioeconomic, cultural, ability, gender, religious, generational, and racial/ethnic.

• Experience working with content management systems to create content for web experiences

• Understanding of using web analytics and qualitative research to prioritize initiatives and drive optimization.

• Understanding of web design/development concepts and processes, digital strategy, UX and UI principles, and how a digital ecosystem can serve marketing purposes. Demonstrated knowledge of HTML and CSS.

• Ability to manage complex communications projects with multiple internal and external stakeholders and to work both independently and collaboratively with moderate supervision.

• Exceptional writing and editing skills. Willingness to accept and respond to revisions rapidly and effectively.

• Ability to deal with ambiguity and be flexible to an ever-changing environment.

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strategic mindset paired with strong results orientation to achieve key business objectives

• Actively researches and stays current on the latest trends across digital marketing and publishing.

• An understanding of art, design and higher education, as well as RISD's culture, identity and community appreciated

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
