Job Summary
Event Ambassadors, Undergraduate focuses on positively building the brand of OVPDEI programming and units by creating awareness on personal and organizational social media sites and representing the department at campus events.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Promotes upcoming OVPDEI events, with the goal of attracting the appropriate audience
Posts OVPDEI events and programming on personal and departmental social media pages
Works with event organizers to determine appropriate event language and hashtags
Maintains professional standards of language and behavior in all social media posts
Works with writers, designers, and others to execute social media strategies; may include scheduling posts on Hoot suite
Takes 5-10 photos at events and post live coverage on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other
Emails event photos to event organizers or store on CITO, Google Drive, or other designated areas
Attends OVPDEI events on behalf of the marketing and communications department
Distributes OVPDEI program and event flyers, postcards, and posters around campus
Represents OVPDEI by effectively communicating IU pride to others in a positive way
Attends meetings team and project meetings
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
Preferred
Minimum 3.0 GPA majoring in marketing, journalism, business or related field
SKILLS
Required
Experience with professional writing or managing multiple social media accounts
Involved in 1 or more OVPDEI program (IU culture center or academic program) or other programs
Adaptive design eye and skill
Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Ability to build and maintain rapport with faculty, staff, student, parents, representatives, and community
Advertised Salary
$15.96 per hour
Work Hours
The employee must maintain a maximum of 29 hours per week across all positions of employment held with Indiana University.
The person in this position must be able to work flexible hours.
