Position Summary:
Fordham offers an extensive array of fully online degree programs in six of its graduate schools. The Senior Director for Online Programs will lead a multi-functional team to assist in the development and ongoing support of fully-online and hybrid degree/certificate programs in close partnership with the sponsoring graduate schools. The central online team will include instructional designers, instructional technologists, and those who support Blackboard Ultra, the University's learning management system. The team will also partner with a video production team, a digital marketing team, and a 24/7 technical support team to round out the services needed to facilitate a first-rate online learning experience.
Reporting to the Associate Provost for Graduate Programs, the Senior Director for Online Programs will promote pedagogical practices that are student-centered, foster deep learning, and deliver outstanding educational outcomes. The Senior Director will manage how the central team allots its time and resources to various projects in order to achieve a set of institutional objectives set by the Associate Provost for Graduate Programs.
Essential Functions:
Translates the priorities of the Associate Provost for Graduate Programs into a sequenced project list for the central online team engaged in launching and supporting online graduate programs.
Helps deans plan out the necessary steps to launch their online graduate programs, including an overall timeline and assignments of responsibilities.
Provides faculty with multi-layered support, from instructional design through technical implementation, as they build out their online course environment
Promotes excellence in online teaching and learning through innovative evidence-based practices producing equitable and inclusive experiences that help students achieve the instructor's desired learning outcomes.
Meets quality assurance standards across all online programs.
Directs the central online team of instructional designers and instructional technologists, and coordinate with the School's project team, video production team, digital marketing team, and 24/7 technical support team to deliver a seamless integration of services to support online programs.
Manages the fiscal affairs of the team in coordination with the Provost's Office and Information Technology.
Ensures compliance with regulations (international, federal and state) that may impact online programs in conjunction with the appropriate business support functions.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in related field
At least 7 years of related experience in online education
Knowledge of theories of learning, curricular design, and innovative online teaching strategies
Visionary leader in online learning with demonstrated record of success
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to DEI practices
Ability to collaborate with academic and non-academic units, faculty, and administrators
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing and developing educational and professional development programs.
