Hybrid Format: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 09:00AM-05:00PM ET, 40 hours per week
This new role on the Marketing and Communications team is an exciting opportunity for a tenacious multitasker with expertise in brand initiatives, advertising campaigns and data analytics. As a champion for audience growth, you'll develop and implement all paid, go-to-market campaigns across WBUR products and high-return platforms.
As a savvy paid digital media marketer, your understanding of third-party tools, market trends and user behaviors will fuel strategic goals and encourage data-driven decision-making across the organization. Your enterprising drive and passion for media and journalism will help WBUR grow, attracting the next generation of fans in Boston and beyond.
The Marketing Operations Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The department is a close partner to WBUR colleagues across local news, national programming, product, podcasts and other strategic initiatives.
Your Responsibilities:
With the Director of Marketing and Communications, manage annual paid campaign budgeting to maximize campaign dollars, and oversee the management of funds to optimize and ensure accurate spend and pacing from project to project.
Execute paid marketing campaigns (social media, out-of-home, search, email, app store, partnerships, etc.) from concept to build through activation, including day-to-day monitoring, A/B testing and creative and/or bid optimization to meet growth goal KPIs.
Create and manage WBUR's marketing calendar for a month-to-month view of campaigns, deadlines, milestones, etc. for shared visibility.
Facilitate conversations and spearhead agreements with vendors, agency partners, external consultants and/or other third-party media tools to support marketing campaigns across platforms.
Create and report out marketing campaign results (status updates, goals, successes, challenges, learnings) for leaders and other stakeholders to encourage meaningful growth at all stages of the audience journey.
Execute administrative tasks including but are not limited to monthly invoice tracking and reconciliation, along with collaborative grant allocation.
Essential Functions:
(30%) Build marketing campaigns across platforms with regular testing, monitoring and optimization for strategic goals, success and efficiency.
(20%) Maximize marketing dollars with strategic campaign budgeting from annual planning though individual campaigns and across implementations.
(10%) Create and communicate an annual and monthly marketing campaign calendar for organization-wide coordination.
(10%) Platform and external vendor relations, from conceptualizing and exploration through proposal, negotiations and implementation.
(10%) Produce reports, status updates and share-out learnings.
(10%) Administrative tasks including but are not limited to monthly invoice tracking and reconciliation, along with collaborative grant allocation.
(10%) Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as the Product team, Salesforce integration leads, etc.
Required Skills What Youll Need to Succeed
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent/relevant experience in marketing, advertising, communications or a related industry.
5 years of digital media experience, including at least 2 years of paid marketing strategy across mediums.
Familiarity with the nonprofit sector and/or membership organizations is a plus.
Capabilities & Proficiencies:
An excitement about WBURs mission to provide an essential public good: high-quality local journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community.
Foundational understanding of paid, earned and owned media strategy and tactics - and how they all work together.
Proficiency and proven success creating campaigns across digital marketing platforms, including but not limited to Meta Business Manager, Google Ads, Apple Store and programmatic. Familiarity with YouTube, TikTok, Snap and emerging platforms/technologies is preferred.
Skilled with data analytics tools, including but not limited to Google Analytics.
Experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Advertising Studio including the Advertising Audience, Journey Builder and Lead Capture applications a plus.
Strong analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Proven success fostering relationships between internal stakeholders and external partners (agencies, vendors, consultants).
Excellence at both short- and long-term project management.
