Position Type: Permanent, Full Time, Benefits Eligible
Work Format: Hybrid, 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, hours are typically 09:00AM-05:00PM ET.
WBUR's Membership team is responsible for converting listeners and readers into contributors. From roughly 60,000 members who give voluntarily, the Membership program generates approximately $11,000,000 annually. We have a small team of eight that is responsible for not only converting consumers to members but also ensuring that our members have an exceptional experience. We are committed to growing our program and innovating in order to fund, in part, WBUR and NPR's journalism and storytelling. The work environment is fast paced and meeting deadlines is critical for success. We hold approximately 5-6 core fundraising campaigns per year and revenue is generated through those campaigns and a host of channels.
As Digital Fundraising Manager, you will work directly with the Director of Membership and Campaign Strategy in the planning and execution of annual fundraising campaigns. You will also work in close collaboration with WBUR's Product and Marketing teams. As a strategic thinker and doer, you will conceive, manage, analyze and optimize campaigns that drive member growth across all digital platforms. Responsibilities include developing and executing a strategy to acquire new members and increase contributions from existing members, as well as collaborating with WBUR leaders to reach online conversion goals and objectives that generate revenue. You will craft compelling messages that motivate supporters to support WBUR.
Essential Functions:
(40%) Digital Fundraising Strategy: Create a strategy on all digital fundraising opportunities to maximize revenue generation through member growth and acquisition Prioritize and lead all digital engagement fundraising efforts, taking charge of planning and execution. Leverage existing and new technology to enhance and optimize fundraising results.
(15%) Data Analysis and Process Optimization: Analyze current and historical fundraising results to identify trends and patterns, allowing for data-driven decision-making. Over time, create fundraising metrics based on industry standards and/or past performance to establish goals. Provide recommendations and implement new approaches to improve the online giving process and enhance digital conversion rates.
(25%) Digital Campaign Creation: Plan, create, and execute engaging fundraising campaigns via organic and paid strategies across digital platforms (such as social media, the WBUR website, etc.). Monitor campaign performance, conduct A/B testing, and adjust strategies to maximize donations. Utilize existing resources, tools and approaches to maximize return.
(10%) Website and Forms Management: Oversee website content related to fundraising, ensuring it is user-friendly and conversion-focused. Implement best practices for online donation forms and donor user experience.
(15%) Email Marketing: Ensure, where appropriate, that the digital fundraising strategy aligns with email communications activities. Work with Marketing and Product and understand email segmentation strategies, audience journeys and personalized communications and automation tools. Be familiar with Salesforce Marketing Cloud for its future optimization at WBUR.
(10%) Special projects and fundraising initiatives as assigned.
Required Skills
What You'll Need to Succeed:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent/relevant experience
4-6 years of experience in fundraising, digital marketing or relevant/equivalent experience
Capabilities and Proficiencies:
An excitement about WBUR's mission to provide an essential public good: high-quality local journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community.
Proficiency with digital marketing tools such as WordPress and Google Ad Manager; email marketing platforms such as MailChimp, Constant Contact or Salesforce MarketingCloud; donation management platforms; and CRM software.
Ability to place ads on social media platforms such Instagram and LinkedIn.
Persuasive messaging skills for fundraising.
Strong interpersonal skills with an orientation to collaboration.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
Proficiency using common web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and more specialized tools for digital conversion.
A passion for public radio and a deep understanding of its value is a plus.
