Position Summary
Columbia University Irving Medical Center???s (CUIMC) Department of Communications seeks an Assistant Editorial Director to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Editorial Director, the Assistant Editorial Director will create content throughout the CUIMC digital landscape, which includes websites, a patient newsletter, and marketing campaigns. Our ideal candidate is an experienced content professional with demonstrated writing and editing skills and experience developing content for patient and professional audiences.

Responsibilities
Work with the digital production team and institutional stakeholders to conceptualize and plan website build and migration projects, marketing campaigns, and ongoing content and conversion optimization to support CUIMC???s clinical services
Write and edit patient-facing content that is optimized for search and adheres to editorial style and standards
Write and edit engaging patient-facing stories for our Health Insights website and email newsletter
Edit and package patient-facing stories for our Health Insights email newsletter
Proofread content across multiple digital platforms
Support final production of website build and migration projects
Conduct regular content audits, competitor reviews, and gap analyses to identify areas of opportunity
Ensure compliance with editorial house style, copyrights, ADA accessibility, HIPAA, PHI, and PII
Other duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus a minimum of four years of related experience
Strong understanding of style guides, including the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook
Experience in developing content for search engine optimization and conversions
Experience proofreading
Knowledge of patient/user journey and decision making, and how these are influenced by content
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in journalism, communications, English, or writing strongly preferred
5+ years??? relevant work experience in content-related web and digital projects strongly preferred
Experience with email marketing and Salesforce Marketing Cloud is preferred
Digital content management is preferred
Google Analytics experience is preferred
Knowledge of digital marketing and media production is preferred
